wowzieahhhh ,i like that addition mate, its adds more depth tp this excellent piece...all the best my friend.its right up there with the very best of the challenge entries...you obviously know that http://www.cgtalk.com/images/icons/icon10.gif :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:
good luck michael.........
michael ,can i suggest you to keep it a little bit out of focus and blurred out...i mean the new building that you have addeed, just some post work in ps.regardless....:arteest:
Very nicely done, i can see alot of hard work went into this, but for me the characters dont seem to fit the environment they live in.
They are all rusted and clunky, yet the village is so soft and sophisticated.

Wow Virtuoso, you really impressed allot people the last months, and with this final you make true all expections... (or above them :) ;) ). Especially the textures (shading etc) and the modelling look veeeeery nice (as said so much times before ;) ).
The compositing looks great, and softy... :bounce: Your workflow is amazing btw; rendering allot seperate stuff with seperate lighting... :)
Sorry that also I did complete the challenge... unless you told me it would be better to not do... Hope you'll unless like it... :)
Greetz & good luck at the voting (that 'll be allright),

Hey Michael,
The addition of those 2 buildings in middle ground does help out with the depth issue. Good job:thumbsup:
Good luck.

This entry really demonstrates to me how individual preferences vary in Art.
Perfection vs. imperfection: which makes for a better image?

A wonderful vision. Your ideas are so original, and your modelling and texturing are brilliant. I feel like the final could have had more atmosphere or depth, but the creativity of your characters and models comes through anyway. Best of luck with the judges.

Hey Michael I just dropped by to let you know I finished my GSO Theme song, and fully plan to make a music video out of my entry. Not sure if your interested in this, but I am hoping to expand it make it even more grand with alot of architectural updates characters, alot of bio-mechaniods since that is the aliens in my entry. I hope you might consider doing a small segment. I was thinking about opening it up and allowing multiple artists to use their entry's in animated form together into one music video and since I wrote an 8 minute song with 3 distinct movements and progressions. Let me know what you think and that goes for anyone else who is interested I will post this in the main thread!

Just an update. Some serious deliberation on the topic of music video made me decide to make a GSO Music Video for the community instead of a video for myself. In it I plan to use all quality entries submitted for use in a big video using stills and animations. For more info stop by here:
The Grand Space Opera Music Video (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=203968)
I really hope you will be willing to produce some for this. The nice part is that all photoshop documents are compositable and animatable in layers. I will post up some specs in the official thread. Talk to ya soon. Good luck in the voting, you know you got mine.
its voting time michael...:)

Thankyou Steveyola.:) I am pleased you liked my efforts. It's funny that the challenge just ended, after three months of nose to the grindstone heavy work it ends just like that in a snap of a finger. And just like that I find myself switching gears and into my private project again, without almost a twitch of a heartbeat................It's funny after being so very involved in one thing so intensly how you can get right into the next thing so quickly.I am going for some very "organic" scalawag creations to go with the set pieces I have along with my partners been into for quite sometime now..........So the wheel keeps turning...........Back to the ol' lab I go.........:wip: :arteest:

hey mate
great to see you through another challenge.. and it's been a great visual delight..
well done dude..
I think however, that over the course of the past 3 months, that the works you have produced have set the bar too high.. and perhaps even too high for even yourself to pass. For me, there's something missing in the final. Don't get me wrong, it's a great piece of art, with more polishing it could be mind blowing..
I respect your works and you as an artist, thus my honest opinions

Thank you for your Reply Michael. Unfortunatly I was out of country for most of the time and i wasn't able to complete my piece before the challenge end. That won't keep me from finishing the piece so expect to see the finished product in the not too distant future.
Good Luck on winning the SO Challenge.
By the way I love youre piece. It certainly has style. And the texture work is awsome. One thing that sticks out a bit. I have a little trouble reading depth. Perhaps if you applied an atmpsheric fog on some of the background objects. Otherwise Top Notch work.

I agree. So old buddy and partner I must say I am surprised.I expected to see you in that top 3 or at least top 5,but?Well you got the community award. With all your popularity and you still did'nt get into that 15,did'nt even get to the judges.Thats a shame.Still you got some great reel work and still should get into that challenge book.
You should drop by,we got some new cool concepts, you'd love them.Until later man congrats on a fantastic entry.

Yeah Michael,
As good as your work is I think the judges were looking for something else,
personally I was trying to avoid the "norm" but apparrently not the judges. Good as the #1 placer work goes it was well done but highly reminiscent of a judges' work who I won't name.
Man your wire meshes are stand-alone works of art themselves!
And thanks for dropping by my thread and giving encouragement.
And to those CGN members who also bothered.
