This is a project for my material and lighting class. So tell me what I should I improve, what's going well, etc. These are meant to be stills.

first thing you should do, is lower the bump on those bricks! Secondly, add variation and up the resolution. They just aren't holding up, especially when in the forground. You should also make a few different textures for the leaves/moss growing, looks to uniform and just green.. hard to even tell what it's supposed to be. As far as lighting, right now it's pretty weak. Add more fill lights and experiment with different degrees of color in the lights themselves to add variation to the shadows/highlights as well as build depth and create mood. Also, are shadows on at all? Turn down the fog in the flood lights, or add more dust in the shadowed areas of the room. The pieces that have broken and fallen down are to clean cut, actually break those models up more, even if it's just a few verts.

good luck

the thing about the bump is that it won't show up at any lower value unless your up close to it. I dont know what i'm supposed to do to decrease the bump as the camera gets closer. Im using Maya 6.

Also shadows are on and since it is in a dark area the sunlight(AKA spotlights) is the only thing casting shadows so its the only actual light. Bounce lights can only cause very subtle shadows.

Also the breaks are pretty clean cut so i just figured out i should just displace those.

For the fill lights. There are omni lights creating the bouncelights in the scene and they're all over the place. So i don't think adding more lights will make it better.

The render was meant to be NTSC so i can't post a larger version even though i'll print out a bigger version if i get it to professional standards.

I'm gonna try using a photographed leaf first if it'll look better and then i'll just re paint the texture of the leaf if it does look better.

Oh yeah i also noticed in maya the fog lights are pretty buggy. Like light would past through objects even if shadows are on.
