Hello Paulo!
I really like the architectural style you're developping for your piece... seems believable enough while retaining that "otherworldly" feeling. Can't wait to see some lighting and texturing!
Ok, agora em Português... Ena, Mais um conterrâneo! Tem sido uma boa surpresa ver tantos talentos Portugueses a participarem nesta "aventura"... boa sorte para ti

Fantastic piece. I'm a sucker for beautiful architecture. The style is so consistent and the scale is maintained very well. So much great detail in the buildings, bridges and the little undercuts on the cliffsides. This is one of my favorite pieces so far. I want to jump into your image and inhabit all the cool spaces that you have created. I look forward to seeing the finished image.

thats quite a concept and some good modeling. My first thought is that some of your edges seem a bit sharp. but its early days yet so this might not be a problem
keep it up
pBarrelas
11-25-2004, 12:39 PM
D-3 - Many thanks Patrick!! I'll really try to model everything before starting to texture, you'll have to stay tunned if you want to see some txtures...heh heh!!
artemesia66 - Thanks a lot dude!! Soon i'll start to add the redesigned ships (i'll post the WIP on that) and other stuff. Now people will be more dificult to see, because of the scale, persons will be litle more than dots!!
Lemog - Hey thanks a lot dude, for your words and support!!
joshcxa - Thanks dude!! Yeah some edges look a litle sharp but that is because of the architectural style that i'm using, and to be honest, i don't think that smoothing some edges would add realism to the scene because of the camera distance to the city itself.

MickymX - Hey thanks a lot for your support!! I'm really happy to know that my WIP is helping you. In fact, my main goal with such detailed WIP is to show a litle bit of my technique and help others. I know that it could not be the best technique but at least is working for me and for others, i hope!!

Very intriguing...I like very much the feel that the last post give. A very abstract, non-linear form of architecture. Building them is certainly not easy and definitely take an advance civilization to construct such landscape.
Kudos Barrelas!!
pBarrelas
11-26-2004, 07:17 AM
maranello55 - Many thanks!! Yeah it's very hard to model such buildings, not the model part itself, but to plan such shapes and to acomplish a plesant comp with all together!! I'm really happy to see that the message that i'm trying to give, is beeing well capted by all!!:)

11-26-2004, 08:31 AM
Im actually having in my mind the image of Java tribe from Star Wars inhabiting this landscape. But I think they are too small to build these huge structures.
I think somewhere in the line of those folk in 'Reign of Fire'. Sorry but im easily influenced by the current state of ur rendering. I think in the end its gonna be more advanced in terms of the looks.
Nice!
Soon i'll start to show some texturing!!
love to see that Paulo. good luck amigo!

Hi Paulo, your step by step way is really interesting. It's great to see how other artists do their modelling, so I can learn a lot of it. Thanx, mate for this:thumbsup:

Lemog - Thanks dude!! I use Mental Ray for the rendering. Yes, i know what you mean by the sampling but i'm using low amounts of FG rays to turn render times down at this moment. Later i'll take care about this issue!!
Saschi0815 - Thanks a lo mate!! I'm glad to know that my step by step WIP is helping others. I'm alsow glad to know that you're liking my work, and yes the texturing will be very hard but i think that in the end the image will turn up nice - i mean if i'll be able to do exactly like the picture i have in my minde...heh heh heh!!

Hi there Paulo!
Nice going mate, I really like your ship's design! Very original and abstract, while maintaining a perfect familiarity with the environment... great job .
I'm just a little curious about the terrain, are you going to detail it further or assume a more stylized landscape?
Um abraço :)

HI, Your model every time are getting better, The new ship it cool too, but I think that it could have some windows, or engines there, something that hierarchirize the shape of your ship.
And a final advice, your citie will alway be great for me, becous I am an architect an I love this kind of architecture, but may be it will be better if you give more perspective on your image, becouse all the citie is seeing by the front, maybe you colud add some planes maybe trees or something like that very close to the camera, this will aloud you to focalize your image.
