hey everybody this contest is totally awesome :D here is my idea
In a future so far the wars are complete destroiyng a planet in a very far galaxy, hope is a word that no more exist in the heart of this people, it's not the end of a planet but the end of a entire galaxy, the end of hope, the end of life the end of everything that really matter. In the middle of this caos, a hope! or not? a hand very damaged with a litlle sphere on the top of the hand and inside this sphere a solar system, the future of an entire galaxy in one hand and around this only destruction and suffering there is hope??
this is the theme of my work i will try to make a very realistc hand in the middle of a mass destrucion place hot tones will be abused to give the sensation that i have thinking on this theme.
This is a ultra very super mega power simple sketch of my scene just to illustrate the idea.

I would suggest adding wings to the sphere like some sort of symbolic sence :D

it is looking good so far, I would suggest making the finger nails more squarish towards the finger tips, and then on the part where the cuticle is I would jam that in a bit more and gove it a modelled in cuticle for extra realism, lying over the fingernail. also soften the creasing that is happeneing around the knuckle areas, they are looking to square.
okay that was a lot of stuff but please don't take offense, I am just trying to help out, I think this will be a great piece when it is done.

A few technical critiques : the palm is rather flat, the middle section of each finger is too thin, and I suspect you'll save yourself a lot of trouble later on if you leave the fine wrinkles & creases (like those on the knuckles) to bump mapping. And I agree w/ dshelton about the nails. It should look like they're growing out of the nail, not sitting on top. It looks like you model your nails the same way I do - with two bevels? - so I think if you just play with the vertices of the nails themselves that should be a quick & easy fix.
Also, if this hand is going to be the focal point of your whole image, I suggest making the anatomy uber-defined, like something you might expect to see on a greek/roman sculpture. Or soft, pudgy and child-like, if you want to go that light-hearted route. Either way I think the structure/modelling of the hand itself should be enough to hold the viewer's attention.
That's a pretty good looking skin texture, btw.

Hey everybody! really thanks for all critics! i agree with all of them...here a update of the hand! i repeat this is A WIP I will change a lot of things in this hand yet.

I agree, another angle would be nice. I think the wrist maybe a little skinny. The right side where the hand and wrist connect looks strange. The hand looks like it has a big bump on it. Other than that it's coming along nicely. Keep up the good work.

here another update on the hand with some proportions fixed and other angle...the botton side of the hand will be more simple because this side will not be showed on the final composition.

Thanks everybody again for all comments! i have already fixed some problems in the hand but nothing big, soon I will post the hand. Today i started to make some displacement tests for the BG the buldings are just to illustrate.. i will model the buldings in the front of the BG soon.

I think it still needs a work to make it look realistic. But I see that your on the way to achieving that result.
I'm enjoying not only the concept, but also the whole develpment of the scene.

very original idea! and so far the realisation is also good. It all looks promising, I can't wait to see next updates. I can only advice now to add some visible terrain betwean the foreground hole and the city.
