Reactor texturing... i just finish to unwrap the uv map of the ship... such a lot of work... it's the first time i get involved into serious texturing work... updates coming soon !

Idea 1 : The inauguration of the Governement-bot, a gigantic bot, a project that took so many years to scientist and politics, that bot is the hearth of the planet... That bot is so huge, it's like a mini electronic city (kind of matrix or blame! environement ), but the catastroph is near...

Just an idea for the moment

Looks awesome! The middle-of-the-planet lighting would serve well as a shadow of the coming catastrophe.

Actually it's a very very rough concept 3d sketch, i hate that ugly background and the lighting is also to review... i want to create an interesting mood in my image...

I had already think to play with shadow in my image and that's what i'm going to do...

My story will be about an invansion, an invansion of mechanical bird in the athmosphere, those birds are flying around galaxies during a laps of time but when they had taken all the matter of the athmosphere, they leave to another galaxy...

I will make a lot of spaceship/city all around the planet but in the athmosphere, they will take the ressources from the planet with huge flexible pipe connected to them...

Hard to explain with text what i currently see in my head so i'll post a sketch (real not 3d) soon...

That's an interesting concept! I like the little bio-domes with the cities inside. Very epic in scale! I'm looking forward to seeing more of this!

Hey thanx for the messages guys, this is very encouraging me for this hard contest:eek:

3doid : thanx, actually i'm working on the background and the general mood of the image (colors precisely), what is sure is that the station will be above the atmosphere of the planet and what i'd like to show in the image is the deep environnement on the ground and the high altitude between ground and the station, it's a lot of work of perspective and scaling because i wanna put the station on the foreground and show in same time the catastroph approaching in the background...:eek:

Ok, i redefined the place of the city on the ship, it's bit more organized and ergonomic now...
I thought about a way to mix the reactor and the city to make a combinaison...

Working hard on colors and environnement now !

hey i like ur progress and i dont think its funny or cartoon like... i feel there is ood deal of siriousness in it... the 3d picture will tell the rest... but one wuestion though... there seems to b some beams or legs under the structure... if its standing on soething then what is it staning on?... i'll b back for the update and answer

Added some extensions to the station in order to see more details of the city and testing a background, the station will finally be below the atmosphere ;)

Really thanx for all those kind words guys !

I didn't really explain how the Hyperstation works but it will go with the story that i'm currently working...

The structure under the station are Ppies, you should have notice the green part over the station too, in fact the station take the ressources of the planet via the pipes and convert it to usable ressources...

The green part is in fact the natural ressources, i don't know if i'll keep that part but actually i like it...

I'll do a final sketch soon before beginning to modeling... time is running up and it's a huge scene... i'm kinda SCARED:eek:

Very cool, like how things are beginning to progress (ie. your shift to a more dynamic assymetrical composition). In terms of the detail you choose to lavish into this, may i make a suggestion. DOnt let your drive to create "detail" within the city distract you from the overall piece. Very often people construct cityscapes as part of compositions and they end up being busy, confusing, and generally weaken the piece. WHen in doubt think simple, but beautiful.
Just my two cents.

xeniusascendant : thx for the comments, i know that i should not go too much in depth with details and that's what i'm think of... as you can see in the following modeling i'm not going to spend a lot of time into far city but i'm gonna put them in the foreground...

A lot of time without updating...that's very sad, i have a lot of work out of this challenge :(

I began to model the ship to have a better idea of proportion and to help me in the final composition sketch...

||) |V| |^| : thanx, Yes there are cities but that are not wings, just a platform used for a ground, the hyperstation is flying with the reactor (blue things)...

A Rough render with no antialias just to test the mood and colors, i'm quite happy with it now, i thinks i should add the ground of the planet in the environement texture... to feel the high altitude...i don't like the only sky environnement...

The birds are just rapid box modeling, i'm working now to define their design...

What do you think guys ?, i'm listening your critics and comments, thanx again !

Hi- I'd been staying up a couple of days with only about an
hours sleep or two and so now i'll post in the correct thread.
I really like the looks of your 3D work and the sky and the
attacking "birds". The only thing that I can suggest at this
point is to have some defensive system on the planet firing
at the birds, or putting up some kind of force field resistance.
Maybe planes from the planet. It just seems too unlikely to me
that the inhabitants would just leave their world by way of
those world bots. Anyway the resulting action would make it
more dynamic, and more like a Grand Space Opera to me.
But thats just my 2 cents. Again I think your art is great.

Hi userbrian and thanx for your interesting input, when i began the challenge my point was to make a picture without rocket, war etc... but one week before i think that some defense system could improve the image and add some dynamics as you said...

the final is that i'm going to make a defense system but not space ship or big guns, i'm thinking about organics defense system on the ground like bots, those defenser bots are also worker bots, they repair, they construct... but what are they gonna looks like ? i'm thinking about it...

But the important thing you must keep in mind is that birds invasion is a sort of natural catastroph... yes the birds have been created by human but they're "autonome" and they're looking for their living ressources : the metal...

About what this hyperstation Hybrio-I is doing here, it's an experiment made by human in the year 3001 after some serious scientific research and a quest for a liveable planet in the galaxy GOMILLA...

I'll send the characters design and attitude soon...

Hey, nice flying city you have there, i like. The texturing looks great, only thing is that the city looks like it would be very clean and well kept imo, hope the rest is a bit cleaner (i liked the clean clay render a lot).

First time I see this thread and I must say it's pleasant news! I really like your concept and where you're going with it. I love the way you've made a peaceful scene threatened by a flock of birds - way cool. Good luck with it :thumbsup:

What an experience for you for a first time sebastien..........looks good too.I can tell you this will be a great experience for you,you will see the next time you go for a texture job it will be 50% easier......I think it looks good,and for a first try and on something like this it's a great effort on your part......It's not easy even after many attempts,but you got it down pretty good and quickly.....it'll only get easier and more fun with time......Nice effort and some good results.....Cheers to you...........:beer: :arteest:
