Hi everybody,
well I've got an idea for the scene, but I'm still working on the composition, so I won't post any pics of that right now, however I can show you a pic of one of the characters that will appear in the scene, an assault trooper. There's a going to be a swarm of them in the scene, mostly in the BG - so this character will probably be modeled at medium rez.
anyway, so here's the character, he's a quick assault soldier, wearing a jump pack which is attached to his back and clamped onto his crotch (see codpiece), he wears a skin-tight flame retardent suit all over his body, and overtop of that he wears some light weight hardened leather armor - to protect him in case he falls (he might need a cushion).
I'm going for a bit of a retro look in this pic, glass domes over the head, big bulky armor, not to technologically complex.
I'm not much of a 2d artist so excuse the crappiness of the drawing. It's inspired by some of Mike Mignola's production sketches for Disney's Atlantis.

Sounds promising .. good to see you're planning to actually compete. As for the sketch, maybe it's not drawn as you would like to, but I think it is very infomative and a good start in preparation of modeling. Keep going!
