And so begins my journey in Grand Space Opera.. Nothing fancy, just testing out to make some base starfield. Not too happy with the result, but it was just a test :)
Wow, looks great to me. Any chance you might give some pointers on how you did it? Keep this up. Can't wait to see the conceptsketch!

And some more, this time a TOTAL overkill :) Don't take these so seriously, I'm just fooling around with these to warm up. I've sketched already some scenes, I think I'll scan/color them soon for your viewing "pleasure".

Nice to see Finnish people here.
I like the lens flaire :P

Lens flares rule :) *evil grin*
Yeah it's fun to see other Finnish here also.
Good luck to you in the competition btw! :)

Starting another one.. from this I think I'll try to make first finished piece. The lower part of the picture will be filled with a planet, in the top center I'll make an exploding spaceship and surrounding areas I'll make some other crafts taking damage of the debris etc... and to the background I'll make some nebula etc (and new startfield, still using the first one I did with just small modifications) :)
No lens flare used this time, all the flare effects were made manually ;)
Sorry for posting it in so early stage, but I'm going to sleep now and just wanted to share this tonight.
interesting stuff. great start.
Great looking piece! Just a suugestion, but if you'll put a spaceship in the foreground on the left side of the image, this will really help the depth perspective. Maby you already thought of this. Keep it up!
Still hoping for a space-tutorial, though!

First sketch of some orbital battlescene. Not quite unique idea, but one's gotta start somewhere :)

BEAUTIFUL! May I ask what you use to get your starfields in the manner you do, I really like the style. Quite impressive. Keep up the incredible work, You are very very talented, and I like how hard on yourself you are, you don't accept anything less than your best.

Thanks for your kind words mate.
Since this was already 3rd request of how I do the starfield, I think it's time to post the resource that was very helpful to me and hopefully to all you too :) No point PMing everyone separately, heh.
So here ya go: http://gallery.artofgregmartin.com/tutorials.html
Have fun with it :D
And Shadow Seraph, you're right about that I push myself, maybe even too much at times, but I hope it's the best way to achieve the best I'm capable of... we'll see.
I just got brand new idea for the compo, this time I hope it's quite original, even hilarious, but I'll tell you the story after I've made some sketches out of it :)
