Title: The Ascend
Name: Henning Ludvigsen
Country: Norway
Software: Photoshop
I started out making a clouded background with no real goal, and then I started another picture with a girl. Half way in the progress I tried the clouded background behind the girl, and decided to leave it there...
No real story behind this, but I think writer Alinta Brown describes this picture really well:
"It wasn't fair, but then it never was. Her duty was to be the bridge, the gap taker, the soul bringer. As the day shone crystal bright around her, she leaned down and placed gentle hands on the child's mind. Sadness bleek and unfathomably clothed her but with it the calm acceptance and slight joy knowing this child, one of many, would find comfort in her presence. Stars flashed, silver motes danced, and the soul was released to the sky. No, it wasn't fair, but then it never will be."
Made using Photoshop with an Art Pad. 3 evening.

That is indeed very nice. I like it more than your other images.
I see you have a way of rendering skin in a very "metalic" way. That works in that specific piece but does bother me a bit in some of your other images. My quess is that you are using dodge tool for the highlights. That tends to make a core of pure white color in the midle of your specular area wich is a metal effect. I would also suggest the use of more non native colors. Very nice overall!!!

Oh my goodness. I fell in love with the hair just by seeing the thumbnail. It's so smooth and detailed. (Someday I will be able to do hair like that). You are amazing. And the bronzed skin is gorgeous. You're seriously talented. I'm going to most definately keep an eye on you. :D

BRILLIANT work my friend, keep it up.
Now this is truely excellent. Much better than your other recent work. Great job.
Your command of transparency and material is excellent , furthermore the composition and parallel shapes of head and lights is very fitting.

The girl looks like Sandra Bullock to me. Did you have a specific person in mind when you modeled the girl? Can we see some wireframes?
Very well done.

WOW nice work. I really like the personality in the face.. the best faces are the ones that look like they have a person behind them and yours pulls that off nicely. I like the style you have in the hair, its much different than the average person and I like that.Hrmmmm oh the wrinkles in the skin are placed nicely, still young but have to have those real lines in there:thumbsup: the other things in it that i can see that looks really nice are actually the cloth type material that goes over her shoulder is done nicely and the strap for it.. I like both
All in all very good work! :bounce:

Wow! Amazing job.
A couple things that I like, I like the color, the bronze kinda color tone. Very cool.
The second thing I like is that she looks "naturally" pretty. And what I mean by that is you look at the picture, she looks pretty, but not over/super model pretty. If that makes any sense. Also the soft tone on her face. Great job again!

Not the detract from the piece, being totally awesome as it is, and its probably just my messed up imagination that made me think this, but it almost seems as if shes farting out all those little balls of light, judging from their direction and her pose...
im so...so sorry
once again, awesome awesome work....

This is a truly exceptional image and is beautifully rendered. I am particularly drawn to the tiny details of the sheer wrap. The texture there is remarkable, as well as the other details like the buckle and trim on the tunic.
There seems to be two light sources on her face, one directly from the front and another from the right or behind. It may make it more dramatic if one were a cooler light and the other a warmer light. Still, this is a fantastic piece. Keep up the great work!

This is absolutely stunning! The skin, the material, her character...she looks as if she will come alive any second. I loved how you captured her in a moment of thought, there is a real character there. My only suggestion would be to make the clouds more realistic looking.
Really really beautiful art!! Great job!

If I may say so: FETT SOM FAEN :D
Liked this a lot, althou there isn't a lot of things going on in the middle of the pic, and that makes it look a bit like two pictures.. Maybe you could tweak the proportions or placement of the pic. My first thought is a "Widescreen" type of composition..

I would like to thank everybody who took their time to watch and comment on my picture. I truly appreciate it, and I read every single post!
To answer a couple of questions that keeps repeating, I can say that this girl was not rendered as a 3D model, but painted from scratch in Photoshop uning an Art Pad. I used a photo reference of a girl I don`t know the name of (it`s not Sandra Bullock, hehe). I start off with a simple thin lined drawing, then I add shadows and highlights in gray scale. After this I blend all kinds of color and add details. I`m a huge fan of Boris` skin tones, and I tend to look at his pictures for inspiration and to learn more about this.
