OMFG!!! I really have to think on this one, tooo many prizes too little time!! Off I go to brainstorm I'll be back soon with some sketches!! Good luck to all and hello to the rest of the challenge "big dogs!!"
10-19-2004, 06:49 AM
Well.....this is the sketch. It\'s soo funny because It\'s kinda hard to tell whats going on, but the greyish planes are the cyclone fleet, and the others on the ground are the GTA cruisers. I will explain the story in the next post. Wow! I got alot of work to do.
10-19-2004, 07:32 AM
It was a race......
As the two planets evolved, so did thier technology. The great minds of both planets began to make incredible achievements and discoveries. Instruments were made to see and measure, and both planets Visquin and Walukton began to realize that life existed on other planets as well.
Lord Akabar of Visquin put together some of the smartest minds on the planet to find a way to travel to, and take over planet Walukton. King Adenaw of Walukton had no idea what was about to happen to his planet....to his people.....the race had begun. Adenaw believed an invasion could one day happen, and was armed with the best security they had...the GTA ground cruisers.
The newly developed Cyclone fleet has penetrated through the armosphere of planet Walukton, unfortunatly, the GTA ground cruisers are no match for the Visquins.

Although it's a rough sketch, I can see the idea you've got forming in your head. Looks intense!!:D

This is the sketch for the cyclone fighter. i'm not sure if I'm going to follow this exactly but I will definatly keep the concept of the huge engine.
10-19-2004, 08:42 PM
Hi Spiro...............Well you are certantly going for that epic galactic battle.I like the scale, and the cyclone concept is a nice one.I wish you the best and I'll be catching up with you later..........:arteest:

Just putting together my ideas and started to work on the cyclone fighter.
10-19-2004, 11:47 PM
Added the beginning of the stabilizer...
10-20-2004, 01:53 AM
This is on both sides of the cyclone fighter. They will be able to rotate, just haven't gotten that far yet. Please fell free to critique. Thanks!

hi gyro, your image is simple but looks with a lot of action. I have a question, you are going for some hitech spaceships or toon-ish style? I ask this coz the modeling looks for hitech ships, but the concept looks more cartoon-stylized
10-20-2004, 02:23 AM
Well my sketches look cartoonish because when I'm trying to design something, I feel appeal is really important so I basically am looking for the curves and angles that will do that, which is why it may look a little cartoonish but I'm most definatly going for the high tech look.
10-20-2004, 02:45 AM
Looks like a lot of action is going on. Make sure you get a good angle on it.

Guns mounted and ready

@percydaman: Thanks again! I was off of school and work so I figured why not :)
@splotch: Thanks, I will be watching yours too. There's gonna be a lot of cool threads this challenge, and be sure to check everyones.:buttrock:

Very nice modeling progress, keep up. you know that shape is exactly reminds me of an airplane's Jet, can you add different detailes to give it some changes or at least try to squeez and stretch to make new shape.(opinion):wise:
very nice start keep going, be right here every change to check out.
10-20-2004, 07:54 AM
WoW Really fast one! Wishing the best to another neighbour too!
I think that the concept colors need some work though, the Cyclone ship looks cool (retro staff!)
Keep it up and Happy modelling!

These are the thrusters that I must now encorperate into my small cockpit. The cockpit will be smaller than the one the sketch, I want to really show how massive this will be.
10-21-2004, 06:46 AM
Well for the time being I think I'm done modelling this fighter. I may add some detail like bolts and stuff later. I'm just a little concern as someone mentioned, about the top engine can anyone give me some feedback on it. I really want to portray it's massiveness but I need some opinion on what how it looks. Thanks!!
10-22-2004, 03:42 AM
so does anyone have an opinion on the engine??
Hey Spiro, I like the engine engine design! I think some rivets, plating and weld seams, would help convey some scale. Keep up the good work , I'll check back to see how it progresses!
10-22-2004, 06:29 AM
I think the top fin should have less of an organic connection to the main body of the engine. More of a hard connection like the rest of the attached components.
10-22-2004, 06:31 AM
Nice pic, but I too don't think that the tail fin fits in with the rest of the ship.
Love the details though!
10-22-2004, 07:05 AM
Geia Xara Spyro, nice progress there but I can't really tell the proportions of it. I assume adding several smaller fins (non organic-like) on the engine along with several antennas, maybe some elevators from back to front of the engine and staff like that, would add some massiveness. Also the blades of the fan of the turbine engine should be a whole bunch more and with a lot more variations. Add some thinner with some bolder parts on each blade.
Top Fin issue:I believe you could add a strong arm extending far behind the engine that would actually carry a fin or two on it...
Keep it up neighbour!

GREAT GREAT GTREAT START!... i love those engine designs... but i think the main body is too round... and u can try to make the fin separately... taht will add more rugget design in to it... and dude i like those guns... really pointy.. i wannett o make a gun for my ship and i had almost the same idea... but keep goin i can change the design for myslef....i'll b checkin in for updates soon... cya
10-22-2004, 01:26 PM
Engine modeling looks cool...great start in modeling...one thing i would like to say if u don't mind is ...the wing on the upper part of the turbine.....dont stick it out of the outer body 'cuase it looks a little bit of with the rest ...make it a different part and less smoothed..more linear shape...just an opinion. Other than that...waiting updates :)
10-25-2004, 06:28 PM
You guys are right this looks much better it seems like it all fits together nicely now. I would love to add more detail, but my polycount is kinda high so this may be finished.
10-25-2004, 10:40 PM
If u are going to have this part of geometry close the keep it in this detail....but if it away from the camera focus point enough ...put the low poly version with just smoothe normals ;)
11-02-2004, 08:27 AM
Hey there neighbour! Lost you for a while. The turbine seems quite well now, agree with Dimitris on the focus point. I would suggest adding more details with the texture if there is no possible way of adding more polys :)

Kali i mixani. Thelo na sinexiseis.
Thelo na do kai alla.
Good job(na katalavenoun kai oi filoi mas)
I like the engine. We wnat more, we mont you to continue man.
