I'm learning XSI by following the book, Experience XSI. Now, it's time to rig the character. I found that the character button is disable. I think this the the advance character rigging that not come with Foundation. Is there any way around to rig the character or books that I can learn the old way?
Thankls

the following thread covers that topic pretty extensively:

Thank Sevenstrings,

I will try it tonoght. I could get the guide and adjusted it to fit the dinosour. But, afdter that the book go to rigging command that I beleive not available in Foundation. I understand that, but I don't know how to converse the guide into the bone and set up all IK.
I have moved from Lightwave becaue th character animation in Lightwave is painful. But it seems to me that Foundation offers me only the same level as I can do in Lightwave.
Thanks anyway.

It works flawless with the scripts that are available in the thread SevenString mentioned :) Since the Hair and Syflex files are also present in Foundation, one really wonders if it would be possible to "activate" them too :)

The other thing to be aware of is that the "Experience XSI" book assumes a bit of a working knowledge of XSI fundementals, so it will be a little difficult for someone completely new to the program.

Also, if you're not comfortable setting up the scripts yet, as a quick alternative, load one of the guides mentioned in the thread that I linked to, not the default ones that are created for you. Then, adjust the guide. Next, RIGHT-CLICK select the guide to force a select of the entire guide's tree. Finally, use the "rig from guide" command found in the "Animation" menu at the TOP menu strip, NOT the left-hand toolbar.

Basically, there are some commands available from the top menus that happen to be greyed out in the left hand toolbar.

But using the scripts is a more robust solution.

The script works great! It is terrific. I just got it looks like the book but didn't go further.
As Sevenstrings mentioned XSI Experience book is kind of for advance users. I have been strucked so many times because it doesn't tell exactly how shouls do and where things are. At least I'm getting used to and pass until this step. (after spending 15 mins to find how to run the script. :-))
I'm thinking to get the book, Illumination series, both Foundation and Character animation from Mesmer. It would help to get me go further and deeper.

Thanks alot guys.

Hi All, it is nice to see the scripts went over so well. I posted this in an older thread but think it will get more traffic in a thread named as such. I found a different way without scripts, so this version doesn't need to be run from the script editor. Just install per the readme and a new toolbar should appear with the approriate buttons. Access it through the Application>toolbars menu.
Happy Rigging

I've tried the plugin. It's rock!

Thanks a lot everyone.

For me I knw Foundation has some limitation. But as a hobbylist I could not afford to pay $2000 for toy, or thing that will not make money. So, I took advantage of the low price for fun in animation. So, this pludin is so great.
