adonihs - coolness, thanks , glad that the (-momentarily?) unpinkness didn't
destroy the pic :)
penumbrae .... dude.... you cannot assume to challenge Gwottiboog... can you tell
why he doesn't in your mind belong to this challenge ?
The bugger eats whole planets..... can you count how much stuff is on ours alone ??
he got a dozen of them in his sack. You think that's not epic ?
That dude sits on a star... a star for god's sake ! Who anywhere could do that?
And he does it for fun as well as for show ! You think that's not iconic ??
An empire is collpasing because of one creature and that empire doesn't know
how to deal with it ? The Tragedy ! The Obscenity ! THe scale ! Not Opera ??
Where in the world do you come from ??

This is a great image. I like the camera angle and the forced perspective. The only thing that I think could be pushed, and quite a bit, would be the lighting. Right now everything is roughly the same value, and I think by darkening the whole room, and then letting the light from the flames and guns glow, it will add more focus as well as drama. I also think you would benefit from making the space outside lighter and darken up those columns. It would allow you to put rimlighting on that figure up there, as well as add some focus to what's going on outside of the room. I hope this helps. If not, let me know and I'll better explain what I mean.
This picture is amazing nonetheless, and I think it's almost there. Great job!

Background looking good more depth. looks good without the pink as well. More ranging values to the light . . . and i have a problem with ms.luvv. your original sketch of her was great. b ut this one seems just i don't know, pretty generic. her head just seems HUGE o me, maybe it is just the hair... sorry.

U r processing very well! Im sorry for not stopping by for so long, but the work is killing me... I dont have much time now either, so just a quick congrats for ur awesome work! Maybe u could do a pic with 2 lights, different colors for a more dramatic effect.. orange in the back and at the point of interest (woman) and a completely diferent light in the right side of the pic, a bit darker and desaturate... So the viewer get the feeling that the right side is far away from action and due to that those puffy-friends r already in a safe place. Just my thoughts... anyway, great job! Keep posting! :)

Quite an incredible journey you've had from the first sketches to this concept. Reading the thread I was sometimes thinking that all those great ideas wouldn't ever lead to a single image. But you really pulled it off. Those funny fluffy animals are great and definitely something different for this theme. Keep it up, looks cool=)

what was in the last pic? hmm.. don't
remember...anyways, supposed changes are:
punched a hole in the wall to the right,
get to show some autumn trees that way..
although very little...also a good
excuse for steaming breaths, if i want
to add such for extra look... hourglass
got reduced in size ... applied a
linear burn layer for color show...umm..
looks a bit better but still needs lots
and lots of work... thinking of putting
all stair area awash in orange light..

Hey
She looks good in your concept sketch!
You might wanna redo her totally for your challenge picture... Now that you got the hang off her looks.
How bout it?

Since your concept sketch looks better at the moment. Redo everything! ALL THE CHARACTERS

Hey Squibbit !
What is this horrible creature near the hansome blue fellow ? what ?! a wo-man ? from earth ? interesting...:D
More seriously : I'm not sure that orange color is needed on the stairs. It could dépend of the size of the explosion and the reflexion amount of tha ground...And I suppose that the main light is coming from space on the right side of the picture.
Anyway keep going on !
Good luck ! :buttrock:

You have done a couple of awsome pics of ms luvv and yet the one in your actual piece does not look as good... is it laundry day and she has forgot to do her hair?
But i love that pic of her with bluw and red dude. and that little frog type thing in her holster is ace.
Actual image looking very much more solid. and the emotion and all little scenes between the cute creatures is funny.

For some reason I am partial to the last pic, where she is looking to my right, it just seems like a more natural angle for the image (though I could be biased in that all the others faced right too :D). I must say, I loved all of your concept sketches throughout the thread, especially comparing the Universe with the seasons which was pretty clever. This is definately going to be a thread to watch just for the creativity alone. Keep it up

Man the image is sweet and muscular at the same time! I really enjoy all those little ones!! :bounce: The new version of Ms. Luvv is working better. The inverted image got me a little dizzy though... i think the original angle and view works better...
Waiting for more!!

Unanswered ? Certainly not :
The picture clearly shows evidence of a lightsaber duel. The clothes lying in the middle of the street probably are those of a poor "lightside force" fellow trained by Obi Wan Kenobi. And we can see the dark jedi coming back (disguised as a french artist) because he forgot the keys of his car in the shop nearby. That was obvious.
Now I think that your image is going on well !
Maybe you could darken some areas to emphasize on the main points of interests or some creatures...but I like your colors...

Now . I am giving in return answers to some questions about my contest entry.
'
Í'm still fumbling with the colors and lighting... the end result is supposed to be
way more sharp and smooth and fabulous , if not alltogether fantasic but ... umm.. there
are limitations tho...skillwise :bounce:heh ..i mean.. :banghead:
i did have the pic look good normal and flipped at one point and I'm trying to get that back

Whoa! So I've finally made it here to have a look at what you're doing in the 2D section....
Unfortunately, as a result of my horribly lacking capabilities in the 2D department, I'm all too easily impressed with stuff like this, so I'll be darned if I could deliver any useful crits in terms of technique. Looks awesome, and the plethora of cuddly animals is just too good.
One thing I see though is that it wouldn't hurt to get some more contrast into this in terms of brighter bright parts, darker dark parts and more saturated saturated parts :D
Then again, I seem to remember overhearing people who know about this stuff saying that you will always stay away from pitch black and bright white for as long as possible to avoid painting oneself into a corner eventually.... so maybe that's just what's going on here.
Cool concept and great execution as far as I can tell.

you should have asked earlier then, I have actually been following this thread....really loved the pinup earlier too.
Personally I find your work hard to crit to be honest, basically because I love the ideas so much and somehow you have a style that seems to fit. Your work is original, often hilarious, and has a distinct style of it's own, on top of that you can draw personally I feel it can only see it getting better. Technical skills will improve with time and experience and really Squibbit I think you are well on your way, I would just hate to see you concentrate on them so much that they take importance over your stories which are simply fantastic and personally I am rather envious of your ability in that respect.

Lookin good.
If you zoom the picture back alot, you should see for your self that the overall picture is very gray. My suggestion is that you put some colors in it. You can test it by merging all the background layers, and using Image>Adjustments>Color balance. Be brave with your choises.
Cheers.

Hello squibbit!!!Yes,I'm back and I'm dad now,hé,hé,hé!!!Yes,yes, excellent!!!Yip,yap, yop(Don't know why I said that :-) )Just felt like that...
Hey your pic is really great man, there's only 2 little things in the pic that I finded a little bit strange(only a very little bit!),Hope I'm constructive..
It's the fact that the woman legs seems a little bit too little for the rest of her body(proportionel?).
2nd one is that the black color of the background(for exemple the shadows of that living statue just behind her)looks more powerfull than the black we see on the lady in the foreground.
I.And I think that it should give more deepness if it was in the other way.(damn,my english suck's again tonight)
What i mean is that the colors and the dark tones of the foreground are less powerfull as the background and so she's not really separated from the background.
Anyway i want to finish by saying"GREAT ART"!!!

Yip yap and gongrats , daddy OKMER !
yea I kno0W about the darkness being softer in the foreground,
just didn't bother to fix that yet :)
and the legs, well , u see, she was pregnant too ... yea really! and
in her universe when the baby is in the womb it grows the tongue,
a bit of the brain and both its eyes first. Then with the (very long)
tongue the baby selects choice peaces of meat from the thighs and other
parts of the mothers legs , cuts them off with the tongues razor sharp, anesthetic-
covered edge and uses the tongue to pull the pieces back and they attach to the baby.
So the baby builds itself from then on this way. when the baby got all
its parts together it starts to grow in size. it needs lots of meat for this and so
it eats the extra length of its tongue. that's why after the baby's born the
woman has smaller-looking legs... I hope I wasn't too confusing..
my medical english tends to be rather bad too

The dog with the mashine gun is the funniest and best detail-part I´ve found in the whole challenge.
Greetings to the cold and beautiful north of europe

This concept is so hillarious :scream: I think it's coming along really well. The only real comment I have is that I kind of want to see more contrast in the woman's face and hair. Right now they're kind of flat.

hehe, turning out quite nicely- I didnt notice the comical details earlier, very different from the usual stuff.
The color tones are nice- I like the red tint in the back on the wall. Nice design there too.

This is looking great! I think the dramatic red light really helped to separate the BG from the FG... nice work!
Is she supposed to be wearing a spandex / latex outfit ala - Trinity from the Matrix? If so I would tweak the highlights on the outfit, tighten the specular. If there is one crit I would make it's that you haven't really defined materials / textures in the piece. Everything seems a little flat and lambert shaded at this point. I think if you can define what is wood / metal / glass / latex / fur etc. that will really help.
Looking great though, love the creatures!

GERBIL - yes , gonna fix that hair
SID - THANKS!
RUSSEL - hahaa , Grreat penguin !
(hey, might start using using that as a shout of joy and surprise, hehe)
MIME - have an alternative to that, too :D
KRRUSTY - yea , you're right about the outfit, and about the materials,
it's not too easy , but I'll try to do something about that, thanks
thanks all , back to work now :arteest:
