Hi everybody, here is my last work - Winter landscape. My idea was to create very, very freezing landsape with strange tree in the middle. Original resolution is 3500 x 2500 pixels, I used Photoshop, work time was about 15 hours.

LOVE IT! My only suggestion, maybe the last leaf getting blown off of the tree, or some drips of blood in the snow, or maybe just leave it as is. ; ) Actually, now that I think about it, maybe flop the clouds so the storm is blowing in the same direction as the tree is leaning?

yeah, i thought the same. great picture , but there is missing something, a contrapoint.
life, a hope, something like this in this cold white place would be good.
maybe a rabbit, a bird, a boot....

I like it and those clouds are awesome. I agree with the others, there could be a contapoint. Are those little skulls in the snow? I could tell for certain on a bigger picture. If so, I like the idea of skulls at the base of the tree.

I can Imagine a story behind all these skulls, great concept, I had a feeling that the tree is pulling itself out of the mountain trying to escape from freezing. technicaly, I adore the wind effect on the near mountain. oh well the whole painting is fantastic, and it got this special beauty because its white and lighted yet stil hopless and dark.

I love this picture, very good!! but I ask me a question about the clouds, did you paint them by hand, and did you used photo as ref?

Thanks for your critisms. My first idea was ....to put a contrapoint in this picture (red apple, red flag,...) but finaly it looks too trashy to me. But...the idea with one boot (thx MFTituS) is realy great - im workin on it :))
to pandaA: Yes clouds are "hand made" just with many ref-photos.

Awsome, I was wondering how did you create the clouds? Could you give me some hints on how to achieve a convincing cloud in Photoshop?
Thanks,

Incredible image...as far as a counterpoint, I'd love to see a single, burnt-orange leaf on the tree, fluttering in the wind, about to drop into the chasm. Maybe this wouldn't fit the mood properly, but it would add that little something to the focal point of the painting--more, I think, than a boot might.
Just a thought. This is one of my favorite images so far, so keep it up!

I disagree with the posts about a counterpoint. In your own words:
My idea was to create very, very freezing landsape with strange tree in the middle.
You were successful. The ambiguity of tone and color in this scene makes it feel cold and uncaring. Don't move the clouds. Having the tree braced against them adds a story of sorts that the tree is struggling against the storm and losing. The skulls buried in snow and the stripped down nature of the tree imply it has lost this battle times before.
This landscape is cold because there is no counterpoint.
