Aye, one of my first 3D models... did it in Maya PLE because I've... well... never done 3D before. Which leaves me in my first pickle.

It doesn't look a thing like wine. Or even like blood. I thought the glass itself looked alright- not entirely gorgeous- but not bloody horrid.

No, I'm not from England.

Alright... so... here 'tis:

And without the... Klingon Blood Wine...

I just noticed the little black crack inbetween the right wall and the floor... I'll remedy that.

I thought the glass itself looked mighty fine... one spline, resolved, then duplicated the resolved object, and scaled it down, leaving two wireframes... the wireframe for the glass (no wine) is bellow:

The wine looks... like a stupid red solid. Is there too much space in between it and the outer edge of the glass? Is there supposed to be some kind of reflection *on* the glass itself from the wine? What should I do with the lighting? Right now I just have it on the default... which I thought looked pretty good, that of course being because I have no idea how to use lighting...

what program are you using?

hehe, just kidding.

I have a question. I use 3Dsm, and was wondering how much time it took you to make that, because i have made one similar, but it took like 5 minutes

Incredibly nice of you! ;)

Seriously though, I'm looking for a tint of advice...

Well, if you account for the amount of time it took me to learn what raytracing was and what all the options meant, learn what a spline was and how to craft the cv's to make the right curve... it probably took 30 minutes to do the glass, another 5 minutes to get the wine right... maybe more because I needed to play with the rendering options 'cause its my first render and I dunno what half the shit does... maybe an hour?

with 3dsm i was actually thinking of making the liquid kind of transparent, then add transparent red bubbles, varying with sizes, i think thats a good way to do it
