XnView is great, and free.so is the OLD acdsee. ( v2.xx or so ). its bloody fast and minimalistic. the new ones got too bloated.

I totally agree w/ the ACDSee thing. The only thing that kind of makes up for it is the databasing feature, which i found was not too bad. The older version had kind of a messy databasing system which gave me some problems especially with the high volume of images that i process. But yeah, if u ever get ACDSee, get the viewer only and don't bother getting a full package.

The problem of XNView (for me) is that it hasn't bookmark function like CompuPic has.

Check out Irfanview:

http://www.irfanview.com/

It does pretty much everything that ACD See does and it's entirely free.

I used Irfanview for viewing, but not its thumbnail feature. It seems to lack an update function, though I did not spend much time to research into it.

I just use the built in picture viewer from Windows Xp. I know its pretty crap but it isnt to slow and is fine for not to large amounts of images. I do use CompuPic though if i need to deal with larger amounts of images
