View Full Version : 3ds max won't load

whenever i try to load 3ds max 6 the load screen shows up but at the bottom where it shows the plugins & such that r loading its just hangs at mentalray and won't do anything else. i've left it go all night but thats as far as it'll go. i tried reinstalling and all that crap but it still does the same thing. how can i fix this?

Mental ray needs access to port 7000.
Do you have any fire wall blocking that port?

conny where the heck do you find out random stuff like that?? and just out of curiosity, why does it need to access a port??

im using zone alarm but i gave 3ds max complete access... how do i give it access to port 7000?

if youre using xp - then it could be the sp2 issue (check the sticky at the top of the page)

i had the same issue and a quick visit to the control panel and disable windose firewall sorted the problem.
