Hey People.

I'm testing puppetshop (www.puppetshop.com) as well as practicing a walk cycle. The character I'm using is one I modelled a while ago. Here's a render of him.

I only modeled himi. Design goes to Mike Kunkel from www.theastonishfactory.com

And here's puppetshop rigg of him and my first wip of his walk cycle.

Anyways, let me know what you guys think. Loop it in your player. For some reason the loop is kind of jerky in the player, in my viewport it looks pretty smooth, though. Have no idea what's wrong.

Peter,

First of all, good to see you're still working hard! I haven't been in touch since I moved out west so I hope all is going well...

Anyway, your character model is amazing...excellent work as usual. :)

The issue I have is with the apparent weight of the character during the walk. He appears to be sort of 'light'-- I think it's because of the hip rotation from the front view. Typical walking mechanics would have them rotating in the opposite direction as you have them. In other words, the hip would go 'upward' during (or right after) that foot hits the ground. Of course, this isn't necessarily a rule...

Email me sometime...I'd love to hear what you're up to...

Hey Jim. Great to see you here. :-)

btw, here's an update_4 (http://harmonic01.8m.com/forums/alienwalk_04.mov)

about the belt line shift. According to Richarc Williams "Tilt the belt line back and forth favoring the leg that is lowest." " Normally the belt line is Down with the foot that is Down and Up with the foot that is Up". And he's saying that with call the cartoony drawings. Although he contradics himself with a drawing of a real human. Anyways, I think having it other way around will make for a very girly walk. :-)

[edit] oh yeah, his hands are almost touching the ground, I'll have to fix that.
