Well, that was a nice sound clip. I got no video at all. Also, is that compressed? 54 meg DL for a 3 min video seems pretty large.

Get the video working and get it compressed.

A very stylish film. I enjoy this film noire type effect. Some interesting and _unusual_ moments.

A few notes if I may..

I can't speak this much french but perhaps subtitle it if you would like more international appeal.

What is around his neck in some scenes, more prevelant towards the end? It looks like some scarring there.

I think you wasted 10 seconds at the start of the film, there is no video/sound/music in this part, and since we dont see any video till 30sec+ it is unnecessary. You have around 40mb of video there, deleting that section looks like it'll save you at least 1mb.

The character walks a bit stilted, if I may draw comparisons it feels very much like the virtua series of games, and alone in the dark. He could do with loosening up, unless this was the desired effect.

Is the music an original piece?

Regardless I enjoyed this piece (only time I've actually commented on anything), the multiple camera shots are handled admirably and thankyou for sharing.

JA.

Well well.. now i can reply like being myself - Ruskov.

About the animation i must admit I didn't reached my purpose which was to do something realistic. My character is inpired from Alain Delon, due to some JP Melville's movie (like "le samourai").
He's straight, and the difficult part was to make a straight character avoiding making it looking like a CG animated character.
To my shame, i must confess i missed it :(

Music are taken from Athur H "cool Jazz"
Jestofunk "Fluid"
Troublemakers "getmisunderstood"

The thing around his neck is.. well... i never knew. I used "dirty reyes" for that face. But i like it, i can't say why. It doesn't disturb me at all.

About the sound/no picture part.. I thought it was unusual beginning a movie this way... To let people imagine with sounds what it was dealing about (with building doors sounds, etc...).
Maybe i'm wrong.

But i'm a bit surprised: there's sound 'til the very begginning of that movie.. so.

it's DivX 4.02 movie

Thankyou for the info.

It is strange there is a 10second space of no sound at the beginning then you hear the keys/door sounds. I did have to rebuild the avi's index to view the movie however as before that I only got sound. The same on all players I try. It may just be a sync problem.

Perhaps compress from original using DivX 5.0 instead for now and see what happens.

Rewatched it a few times and the camera work is still great.

It has to be asked -as always- what software did you use for this film.

Anyway, hope to see more of this style, or is the next project completely different?

That's REALLY strange, because my own version has nolag at the beggining.

Anyway, thanx a lot...

About next project i've an idea... But i don't think i won't ever make a cartoon.. for now, and i really need to improve myself (Animation especially).

La Piece was made with 3DS max4 and Combustion, and i wanna learn Maya.

In fact I don't know if i'm that interested in CG... I think i prefer the "directing" part to anything else (chose plan to shoot, montage, rythm). That's what interest me the most. So maybe the next one would be in DV :)

i REALLY liked the compositing you did.... so much.... i wanna see english subtitles!

anyways, the paper-cutout effect was also very cool. though, of course, the modeling could have been better, the overall quality was very good.

About subtitles:

I was trying a translation for international audience  , but i must admit it's really difficult, because i needs a style that i can't really describe in english. It maybe compared to a Raymond Chandler novel, like "A big sleep".

I can try to tell you the story, but i can't translate the mood in the text i wrote.

1° I'd better leave the place, and blow off frustrating years
[daddy... Baseball game]

2° Jerks on 2nd floor are taking themselves for black people, but just play music like shit

3° The other guys have nothing to do there, and have to leave just like us. The room needs fresh air [window open].

4° Now we can leave and avoid the [police] net, just like a sunray through an "Our lady" stained glass.
Not that im'possible. She often said:
[ girls voice= life is made of pieces which never join each other].

I'm really interested to know if those clues may help anybody understand anyhing. It's quite hard, 'cause it's more a moody than a "narrative" movie. That's what i wanted to do. Interest people in something that is uninteresting: a guy on a chair.
