1st things first, change that background colour to white or something! So difficult to see whats going on!

Then what lighting setup are you using, 3 lights one lights, what about shadows? Have you got caustics, final gather on etc..? What material are you using for the glass?

Answer these and we'll be able to help you better.

and the glass material ???

the shot glass is a standard material with a metal shader with thin wall refraction
the liquid is a raytrace material.

I think it might have something to do with that "thin wall refraction" and the raytracing.

It's really hard to determine the problem without having the actual scene in front of me but your best bet is probably to just change one material at a time (ie turn the refraction down, or off or, check to see if that renders properly, etc...) and try and troubleshoot what's happening, you know just tweak it, start with the liquid first.

Good luck.

hi mr.kantz , read the above link once again , I think they might have a new solution in lighting to try , also since you are using mental ray give the (( Glass physics_phen )) a try.

that did it but is there a way to keep the hdri
