My partner and I were recently contracted to create low-poly models for an educational title. The 'game' allows students to explore an aspect of history and collect relevent information from people to determine why certain historical events have occurred. The current project we are working on is centered around WW2, though we have done projects from the English Tudor period, the French Revolution, etc.

Below are some of the models from WW2. All models are 1500 polygons or less. They consist of only one skin that is 512 x 512 pixels. We had some hefty restrictions because these projects are for a school system and not a typical "gamer's" PC.

WW2 Gestopo Model:

Winston Churchill:

King George:

Please forgive the low-quality screen shots. These are not 3D Studio MAX renders, but screen grabs from within a real-time 3D viewer to see the models in the engine (though with no lighting applied).

Any critiques are welcome.

Hey Dan. This stuff looks great. Hitler is pretty much dead-on.

My only crit is that Churchill doesn't look exactly like Churchill, whereas Hitler looks exactly like Hitler. The Churchill body/build looks perfect but the face is the only area that doesn't quite have the likeness.

Awesome work man. I'd be interested to see some of your wires, if possible from the engine viewer. As you're well aware, I am still working on proper polygon distribution.

Why does he look like Hitler because of the upper lip beard or what? :)
No you can tweak Adolf as well a bit, he got to look older. I mean he looks like a puppy right now if you ask me

I think the Churchill one is dead on, but the rest look like midgets to me.. Might be the angle that they are in, but the proportions dont look right
