View Full Version : start up error: userPrefs.mel is KILLING ME!!
Paul Moran 10-15-2004, 09:44 AM Hey All,
Im working on a scene ...all of a sudden everytime I try a save as i get a pop up saving that it cannot save ....ok...fine...i restart maya and get an error:
***** Error: Unable to parse header for userPrefs.mel
Then all my shelves are pretty much gone and it looks like Maya is back to fresh UI :(
What has happened ?? Is there any way to get it back to how i had it ??
As you can imagine ...very frustrating ...
Thanks for your help!!

Is there a syntax error in your userSetup.mel file? any scripts you've added recently, maybe paste the contents of the file here.

So, i went to my recycle bin and thankfully ...userPrefs.mel is there, I restore it and relaunch Maya...
Now Maya opens fine with no whinging ...but my shelves are still gone :( ...very weird ..
Attached is the userPrefs.met file that i restored from my recycle bin
Cheers for any help mate!! :)

sorry I got confused, I must be dislexic hehe, maybe delete (make a copy somewhere first) your maya folder in "docs" and start maya again, process of elimination and readd your various scripts ets.
