Hi Folks,
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to create a frozen looking wintery lake or river?iIwas originally attempting to do this in Bryce,but i also have Lightwave and Cinema 4D.

You may find forums like C4D Portal more suited to your needs for this early stage in your 3D training. This place is more technical orientatied and the questions a little more for the advanced user;

I've put together a small file for you, study it, look at the settings and maybe try to replicate it.

Good luck;

Hey,thanks alot InTheCity,you're probably right,although I have tried C4D Portal,without too much response to my inquiries,but it can't hurt to try again.

InTheCity: I noticed you use Terragen in your scene. How do you like it? Does it play well with C4D?

They look great in Cinema, but can be a little on the large side with Polygons.
If you keep your terrain around size 256 in Terragen
and smooth out with DiShaper, it looks pretty good.

With 256 - You get about 65'000 poly's
with 512 - you get 262'000 but dramatic difference in detail

This is 512;

You can easily get the same result with 256 and SPD.. (personally don't have r9)

Just read this thread. We haven't received any questions/inquiries from you regarding sanfranguy's/in the city's tutorial :)

Hello InTheCity,
Wade here again,I had some questions for you about Terragen.
I assume you're using the registered version?
If so,do you know of a way to bring in 3D objects,.obj,etc.into the latest version of Terragen?
I'd like to use it for an image i'm working on now,because it just seems easier,doing the landscape,Skies and Water right inside of Terragen itself,if i can also bring in my poser people,objects,etc.
Otherwise,what plug-in do you use to bring the Terragen terrain into C4D?
And,by the that the texturing on that second terrain is awesome!
The problem I had with bringing the terrain into C4D(I think I used Terra4D),was that,it brought the terrain in fine,but it brought the rest of the scene,sky and so forth,and I was'nt able to place my poser figure onto the terrain,it just looked like i was placing it on a photo,so i could'nt get exact 3D positioning,any idea what I might be doing wrong?
Oh,I was also curious if you like Terragen better than Bryce,Vue(I think Vue sucks!),Artmatic Voyager,etc.
I know Daz Productions is working on Bryce 6,I'm curious how that will turn out,have you heard anything about it?
Oh yeah,do you know where I might find either old or modern style winter clothing,coats,hats,scarves,etc.For the Poser Michael 3,Victoria3,and Millenium,boys,and girl Figures?
Oh,C4DPortal,I was referring to other questions I had posted in the past,not this particular one.
Thanx,
