Hi Folks,
Actually, this was an effect iwas trying to create in Bryce,I got the snow itself looking pretty real ,in Bryce4.
The effect i'm trying to achieve is at night just after a fresh snowfall, and the snow is all glittery and sparkling, probabably from moonlight or streetlamps.
Does anyone hane any suggestions as how to do this in either Lightwave or Bryce?
Thanx,
Wade

A specularity texture map should do that. Or a procedural in a specularity channel.

crank up a micro bump on the snow and turn on bloom or corona.
you should get the sparkle you are looking for

Thanks for the info,
Rabid Pitbull, are you talking about Bryce or Lightwave?
And,KoryH,I assume you're talking about Lightwave?
I know Lightwave has the Bloom you mentioned,i don't think i've seen the corona, yet.
Also do either of you know if Bryce 5 can do any of these effects, and can it render larger than 72.dpi.
Oh,one more thing,I like Terragen alot(don't have the regesitered version yet),but it does'nt seem to have alot of resources out for it yet, plus i don't really know of a way to bring in any 3D objects,in any format.
I know their working on version 2,which is supposed to address alot of these issues, including Trees,Grass, better water and Skies ,etc.do you know anything about this program?
Personally I find the renders, just landscape renders, far more realistic than Bryce,or Vue(I think Vue pretty much sucks!).But if you can't bring in any other 3D objects, then you're pretty much limited to Landscapes,Water and Skies only, for now.
Also, from what i hear from Daz Productions,Bryce 6 will be ready in a year or so,have you heard anything about this and what possible capabilities it might have?
Thanx,
Wade

There's also an image filter plugin called ScratchCat (PG_SCat.p) that will give you honest-to-god sparkles rather than the soft glow that Corona does. (Kind of like surface based lenseflare streaks.)

The link to the zip file is here... (just click on the word "japanese" to the right of the Rhino's head to download the plugin.)

I'll host it to this thread and flay as well (if the creator wishes it) if someone can mail it to me, I'm interested in this as well. (I have 10 GB/month traffic.) It is ntllgns then the symbol then start then a dot then no. :)
