Any links to modeling a full character in Maya.

Are there any videos that you would suggest buying that model a charcter in its entirety.

i think the joan of arc tutorial is better, because it doesn't use box modeling... i've grown out of box modeling... i think its inferior :D

when it says "extrude" use extrude edge... use merge edge to weld the edges... when it says "create face" use "append to polygon"....

trust me.. Maya has all the tools Max has, and more, just with different names.

if your problems is buttons, and tools, then you wont need to worry about modelling a character...

but in all actuallity, the program used is completely IRRELEVANT... to actually think there is a difference between apps is somewhat niave (sorry if im a bit rude :D ) the only thing that differs is the process, so... if your interested in HOW to model a character, follow that tutorial, everything in the tutorial can be done with maya, and im sure with the rest of the 3D packages... however, if you not familiar with hot keys and tools, i suggest you take some time and read the F1 manual :hmm:

I think the same as you HellRender, the Joan of Arc tutorials is great tutorial, and I read it (Actually looked at the pictures, didn't know at that time there was translated version) just because it shows very nicely how to do a great model, not how to do a great model in Maya/Max/XSI/C4d/Lightwave/etc
Maybe that kind of a tutorials aren't too good for a total newbies, then a model which tells more about the program itself would be better, but otherwise the Joan of Arc is very good tutorial.

Thanks again...I wanted to try out maya and needed to know what buttons and tools are used and usually a character tutorial pretty go thru the gambit of what is waht and especially if tats what you plan to do.
I am a Lightwave veteran so i see what i can stumble thru....
