View Full Version : Bling-Bling dude in progress
mackster 10-12-2004, 09:18 AM Hello dudes!
Here's a screenshot on my new game character which I am currently working on.
In total it's approx 6900 tris, and it's supposed to be normalmapped and specmapped when finished.

Please tell me what you think about it so far!
BTW, I am right now looking for a internship between Janury-June 2005. If you have any suggestion, preferably on a game company throw me a message!
Cheers!

The hair really needs that specular to look good considering its so dark, i think the overall shape looks good, but the shoes texture needs lots of work.
Not so much comments, but i leave the expert comments to... eeeh, the experts =)

Thell: Yes, I totally agree with you, the hair definitely needs a more accurate colour, even if it's supposed to be black. I'll fix that asap. When it comes to the shoes, I'll think i'll leave that for the moment, until I find some good reference material.
Stealth: Yes, the finished character will soon be uploaded - I'll mess you, aaaight!? :)
To both of you - thank you for your comments!

Alpha_Hale: Haha! :) What a coincidence! They are actually quite similar to eachother.
Anyway, here goes a new render for this evening on my Bernie Mac-looking character: I added some more detail to the texture and applied a normal/specular map. However, there is still some more tweaking to do. As usual!
EDIT: I Also added a rotation of the model for you to download.
Right click and choose "Save as.." HERE (http://www.oudin.se/cg/blingrotate_beta.mov)

Looking good.
Do you have a wireframe shot? It looks like most of the 6900 tri's are in the neck chain. Maybe you could simplify it or use alpha to bring the overall polycount down to about 2000 - 2500.
Other than that, good stuff.

RampanT: Nice to hear that you like my character! I will post a wireframe screenshot later today. Yes, I guess many of the polygons used could be reduced, and I'll probably work on that soon. Atleast 2000 tris are used in the face.
But what exactly do you mean with reducing the polycount with the use of alpha?
I had a look at your steampunk fireman - Very cool work indeed!
