Click the second pill button in the upper left of viewport.

That doesn't reverse the viewport rotation (it's still backwards compared to Cinema 4D for example), but it does finally lock the Y axis to vertical so my perspective view is no longer tumbling all over the place when I drag! :applause: I was wondering if I was going to be able to find a way to do that - thank you!

Being able to reverse the direction of horizontal rotation would still be nice, though.

Edit: Oops, unfortunately this also seems to disable the ability to auto-rotate or oscillate the perspective view. I don't see any reason those two pretty independent features would be connected...an oversight? Or is there a button somewhere I'm overlooking?

With navigation set to Maya and trackball off it works exactly like Cinema 4D for me.

Incidentally, when you have navigation set to Maya, mouse buttons for selection are reversed - paint selection is RMB instead of LMB and likewise lasso selecting is reversed.

Might be a good reason but I haven't spotted it yet.

Probably because in Maya, unless you have paint selection activated, the left mouse button is your select and box select.

Here's what I'm talking about. Both images below show the effects of dragging from center screen slightly to the right. The top images are modo, the bottom C4D.

I remember that LightWave used to orbit the way modo does, and it was a bit weird at first back when I jumped ship to C4D. (And I guess I didn't notice the reverse orbit preference at the time! :) ) But since I'm used to it now, and C4D is still my main app, I'd like modo to adjust to the way I work rather than the other way around.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but is there still no way to reverse the orbit of the perspective viewport? I don't mind the trackball rotation, turning this on or off makes no difference in the direction besides being able to bank.

I use Lightwave3d and Modo rotates the opposite in the perspective viewport. When I switch between the two it feels awkward.

You cant currently do this in modo(102), im not sure about 201, anyone wanna comment? I;ve gotten so used to this mouse rotation now, so it doesnt feel strange at all. Im shock, that jscott didnt know what a inverted mouse is :P and some other people here!!

Yeah I was a little slow on the uptake there.

I think every app I use or have used the orbit function goes in the same direction. I have never used Lightwave. Cinema has that button displayed a few post up that lets you swap it.
