Is anyone else experiencing crashes when using the brush tool?
It seems like I crash every time i try to make use of the tool for more than a few mouse clicks.
Just wondering if it's just me or if this is a known issue ?

No problems here, in fact R9 has been completely solid for me, not crashed yet.

P4 3.4ghz
Winxp Pro sp1
Nvidia Quadro FX1100

What kind of machine and video card do you have?

Have you tried setting your viewport mode to Software instead of OpenGL?

Im using an athlon 1.33 gig machine and a Geforce 4 ti4200 grphics card.
It always worked flawlessly with 8.5, so I dont think it is the machine. I dont think I ever had a crash with 8.5 as a matter of fact.
And even now the only time Cinema crashes on me is when I try to use the brush tool. There does'nt seem to be any way to reliably reproduce the crash. Sometimes the brush tool crashes instantly, and sometimes it takes a little work before it gives up the ghost.

Other than that it is still pretty solid. Aside from a bit of a slowdown in the viewports when working with a hypernurbs object. That is a nother minor thing that I noticed.. when zooming or spinning an object around in the viewport it seems to take a second for the interface to "catch" the mouse movement. like I'll press the ALT button and hold down a mouse button and drag .. and nothing happens for a second. and then it catches and starts to zoom, turn or move.
Maybe it is a garphics issue? I can try turning off the OpenGL when I get home, but I should htink the geforce 4 card would work just as well as it did with 8.5.

Anyway.. still a pretty amazing update despite these two minor annoyances. awsome new modeling tools. Im loving it.

Are you using the latest nVidia drivers for your card by chance?

I don't have your particular card, but I know that there are more OpenGL demands being placed on cards since the release of R9 (and that's a good thing).

Maybe wait around until someone comments who is using your particular card, but for what it is worth, I've always been happy with nVidia drivers and usually update whenever they release a new driver.

Cheers.

Hmm. Well, I installed the new version of DirectX, uninstalled and reinstalled my video card drivers and it still does it.
I did discover that it only crashes when I use the brush tool with Hypernurbs turned on.
If I turn HN off the brush tool works fine.
weird
