some how my thread on on moddeling that crazy twisted logo was killed.

I only got to read chri's response once, it mentioned a way to control the loft with a curve. In this manner I couold make section of it thicker and other thinner. Whats that called? where do I find it?

Select the Modify Tab, then select your loft object. At the very bottom you see an flyout called DEFORMATIONS. Click on the "+" sign and then click on the "SCALE" button.

In the toolbar of the SCALE dialog box there is a button that allows you to insert control points.

Oh, and one more thing about that scale dialog box. To smooth out the transitions between you changes in scale value, you can convert the control points to Bezier-Smooth or Bezier-Corner by selecting the control points and holding down your right mouse button and selecting from the pop-up.
