View Full Version : shapemerge tool makes a mess

I used the shapemerge tool to cut out the holes and then added the parts inside the port sockets and welded all the verts ,
do I have to keep all faces to 4 sides ? .
as you can see the mesh is a bit of a mess ,
I have been tryin to clean it up smooth the surface out , but seem to be getting nowhere fast ,
whats the secret to a clean mesh once you cut out or shapemerged a spline as I have done here ?
is there a better way of doin what Im doin here ?

A boolean set to cut works a little bit better than shape merge, but still needs some cleanup.

Try using a mesh with more polys to start. Shape merge works well, but you are breaking up 1 big poly instead of a bunch, that is what is causing the errors IMO.
