Hi all:

I just downloaded and installed the 30 day trial of Foundation last night and so far coming from LW I am liking what I see.

I am primarily interested in character work utilizing the toon shader so there is alot to learn. :)

My question is relating to the install and open gl cards. I got an error when installing foundation saying that I had no open gl accelerator card which is not right. I have an ati fire gl x1 128 meg dual head card?

I was just wondering if this error would cause any slow down? So far performance in the interface is snappy but the start up of the program is a tad slow? I only have 512 megs of RAM so that might impact the slow down at the start. I just wanted to see if anyone else encountered a similar error when installing, and if this could cause any stability as I move forward.

Cheers,

It is a bit of a slow start compared to lw. I am not sure about that eror though, might need to look into different drivers. Search here for the lw -> .xsi export plugin for lightwave. Then try bringing in some dense objects out of lightwave to compare. So far it seems much faster to me especially charater ik movements. Keep in mind I think the plugin exports only models. Brings quite a bit with though uv, endomorphs, part groups....

Ok i searched it for you. Make sure to go to bottom of page two for the current plugin.

P.S. thanks again Mark!!

Hey Rabid pitbull

Thanks for the heads up on that plugin. :)

I am chalking the error up to coindence because everything seems to work fine when the program loads, but I am keeping my eyes open on forums and such.

Off to search for tuts!

Cheers,
