you know,
I saw the tralier for the PE in theatres yesturday and it really made me think. I was sitting there watching this beutiful imagery pass by on screen, but I couldnt help but see how bad the animation was. I know there was alot of motion capture used, but the animation was just not appealing at all. It was void of emotion in every sense. I really hope they step it up for their release because I would hate such a beautifuly looking movie to be ruined for me because of emotionless animation.

Thanks for the still roberto,

Brad

I agree, musicraker.

I know some people on this show and the work that they are doing is great stuff. But the character animation is weak. One thing to note about the trailer is that very few characters blink during it. I think this has something to do with the robotic feel of the characters motion.

I think you are right with the blinking, Game-boi,

Another thing I saw was with the train dancing scene where all the waiters are dancing and what not. There movements are just too identical to each other and there movements just dont make sense for what they are doing. My main problem is that we have a movie that is greatly aproaching a realistic look but is showing a very fantastical story and un-realistic character moves. the thing I have with it is that if its to be fantastical, why go for realistic, if its supposed to be realistic, why go for stylised movements (ie: dancing). just curious thats all.

I really am NOT planning to see this one for several reasons:

1.- I hate Musicals
2.- I dont like how they made Santa... "santa seems to have been on a ultra Slim Fast diet"
3.- The "Puppets" looks so empty and lifeless... (an i hate their mouths.. they are so horribly done)
4.- I think the beutifull effects and sets could have been greater if there was life action instead of bad 3D characters.
5.- The 3D characters stink as actors :P.... i mean, its totally emotionless.

BTW: Whats the whole idea of making a character exactly like the real life actor who play the voice?.... for that use the real actor instead of a bad cg badly animated.

Besides i think its always a bad idea to make the actor in 3D for a realistic 3D movie.

I have a saying:
dont do with 3d what u can do live for less cost. And dont try live for things that ought to be 3d.
Not sure if that made any sense...
