View Full Version : Character: Angel Chick
Ramza24 10-08-2004, 05:02 AM Hey y'all, been modelling this for the ol' portfolio, in MAX. Textured in Photoshop. It's about 4516 polys. C&C's encouraged, thank you!

Lookin pretty good but you may want to fool around with the relax modifier a bit she's lookin a bit boxy at the moment (especialy the chest). Add some self ilumination to the wings, that will make them seem less heavy. 4,5 thousand is a bit of an overkill. Try & optimize it a bit. Adding an alpha channel to the hair would make it look a lot more realistic (can't see if it's there now the jpgs blured if so make it more visible) She's got a tall forehead. The fringe should start at a 45 degree angle from the ear. Hard to explain without a scetch :D
I'd use refrence for the feathers too :]
Hope it evolves

Thanks for the reply. I was wrong it's 4516 tris, 2000 something polys. The face did need simplifying though. Here's a clearer shot of the head.
I think I need to fix up the eyes, they don't look right.

They're blured thats why they look strange almost foggy. Try a sharper map. Also try adding detail to the eye it will help a lot

Give the girl some lashes too. Preferably a black plane with a repetitive alpha channel or sharper lines in the texture.
Smooth out the chin a bit. Woman are mainly built out of curves:) Try to have as much smooth edges as possible. Get some refrence pics too. They can really help after long hours on the same character to get a fresh view on things. A fake speculare in the hair wouldn't hurt & make the alpha channel a little more visible, maybe stretch it along the length of the hair to make the strands seem longer.
Hope I didn't overdo it with the c&C, don't want to discourage you
Keep at it
