View Full Version : Efficent rendering for one pc question
zapcat 10-07-2004, 10:02 AM I have a complicated 45 sec animation to render - lots of glossy reflections, etc. It's gonna take forever to render, but I was thinking that maybe I could render it so that the produced animation is 22.5sec long and then I could slow it down to half speed. Is this possible and what software would I use?

Most compositing and editing packages have time-warping features these days, so broadly you can take yer pick. Generally speaking the more expensive the plug-in/package the better job it's going to do.

I have premier here, not that I've used it much! (plan to in the future) Can I do it with that and will affect the quality?

Yes, and yes.
By varispeeding something it will never look as good as if you rendered every frame, but often the drop in quality is a price wort paying for the shorter render time. If your animation doesn't move much you'll probably be fine; if it's very fast movement then varispeeding may look awful. Do a test, see what you think.
