*Leonard, I read the rules regarding posts - I hope this post is acceptable as it is more of a broad demonstration of the concept artwork involved in the creation of this paticluar game - if it isn't please drop me a PM / move to the relevent forum. I certainly don't want to cause any hassle or problems. Cheers*

Hi guys,

I'm project lead at Project Hull Breach, a Science Fiction based total
conversion for the soon to be released Halflife 2 engine. The team is comprised of
amateurs and industry pros alike (Capcom, EA, Relic, SCi and more). Here's some of
our concept development - Enjoy the artwork and feel free to drop me a line if you'd
like to get involved - trax@hull-breach.com

If any of this work seems familiar it's probably because our art team is led by the
talented Kai Lim (UkiTakuMuki - hi man! :)

Environmental development - An outpost

At the moment I'm aiming to boost our environmental work, this would cover
a lot of areas from inside ships (corridors, control rooms, terminals, furniture,
etc) to a variety of planet based architecture (buildings, internals and
exteriors, alien plantlife etc). We also have a lot of 3D work complete. All crit welcome!

WOW! The quality of these concepts exceeds that of most commercial games. Definitely reminds me of John Wallin and HPX's paintings, great stuff! There seems to be a very broad range of environments though. You've got grasslands, wastelands, desolate cities, spaceports, and more...which is very ambitious, to say the least! I would like to suggest the following (which you may already be planning on): release your TC as "chapters" rather than in the more traditional "do it all then release". Mods and TCs are extremely well-suited to iterative development and multiple releases; it helps keep up community interest and excitement, and you get lots and lots of feedback. As the game advances and progresses, you can always re-release earlier chapters if they are not up to the quality of the later ones. A project with this much ambition and talent would do very well to take this chaptered approach. If the advice is unwanted or unneeded, then I apologize! Best of luck!

Wow. I love the style and colors. Looking at those concepts makes me wish I was working on the project. Looks like you'll have some awesome models to build. Whats HL2 player poly count? 5k? 7k tri's?

Ah, very good point about chapters Adam. I Loved the Alien Swarm mod for Ut2k4. After a couple weeks of playing it there wasnt too much to do and the servers went from packed to empty in another weeks time. I bet if they did small chapter updates it would have kept the community interest.

The alliance marine concept looks strikingly similar to the space suits used in 1996's Star Trek: First Contact.

The concepts look promising. Maybe mods like this could make Half-Life 2 worth the money?

I think its totally amazing what youve done so far. Its great to see that people want to make their own exciting game without any pressure of a puplisher. Mods offer this chance.

And its nice to see another project that may change the reputation of mods to be poor counterstrike clones only.

I wish you all best of luck guys. But I guess you wont need it. Modding is the best thing ever invented. It gives the possibility to create an high end game.. to everyone.

I’ve been keeping my eye on this mod for some time and I must say that the anticipation is huge! I hope you guys have fun working on this mod, please post any mapping screenshots and info as soon as you have any. I’d love to see how you tackle the mapping...
Good luck!

I watched a presentation over at www.gamasutra.com (http://www.gamasutra.com/) the other day.
I really think that it would help any game designer/level designer immeasurably.
It covers the theory of systematic design, with both the pros and cons.
I highly recommend that the designer and maybe even the rest of the team watch this.
