Just thought I'd see what people thought of this. It's an attack animation I did for the Orc character I've been working on. Any comments are welcome.

edit: it's 0.23 MB, DivX codec

I like the anticipation in the beginning. The upper body animation looks good except for.
1)The second swing is alittle bit too fast.
2)I would have him looking forward the entire time, in a fight you usually are looking at your opponent the whole time.

As for the lower half...
1) The legs are too spread out

I would act out your animations in front of a mirror, and look at more references.
But if you fix those little things, it should be a flawless animation. Good job!

Cool. Animation. I rarely see it on the forums. Nice work. Good flow and poses seem good.

Only crit would be the timing of his left leg. It needs to plant quicker before the second swing. Also, remember to lead the motions with the hip and keep in mind the center of gravity.
Adjust some curves to get a more "whip-like" motion and also offset a few keys, it'll give you a less robotic look. Since he's swinging violently, create some eratic follow through motion, like he can't maintain his balance.

Looks good, though. I like the model very much and I recall seeing it on your site.

He's using Maya which has a very robust set of animation and rigging tools. There are other apps that are cheaper that only have modeling tools like Modo or Wings3d(free).

thanks for the comments, guys. Yes this was all done in Maya. Darkhunter, good critique, I'll take another look at what you mentioned.

Nice model ad a nice animation

Crits: HE looks away fromt he attack object twice, he needs to be focused on the object he is attacking.

Also the stance and he moves forwards loks like he....well......had an accident in his shorts.

try making the stance more dramatic without the look of pooped in pants.

apart from that thats some awsome attack move, makes you really think its doing to do som damage.
