hi !

it 's been a long time since i post something but i work so much :p

This time i want to make a complete low poly scene with a character and his environment ...

i took pics from BOBO ( as ref ) to make the man -- a quake style man --

this character is the survivor from an aircraft crash

here is the concept

soory for my english :banghead:

the model

I finish the texture of the head and also the gun ( on the same map )

Hey, cool you did capture his style :)

I think the model looks like it is going to fall backwards any second but that also could be a perspective thing, please post some orthos.
The feet seem a bit to short, esspecially after the knees, the big shoe basically starts streigth away.

The texture is good but it still looks very comic like, not the quakish look you are going for. Looks way to clean for that. The folds that you painted going away from the nostrils (donīt know what you call them) conntect to strongly with the corners of the mouth. They would do that if he would put on an insaneley big smile.
Now, I wouldnt say itīs absoluteley wrong but you might want to try to add a bit more space there and see it how it looks like.

Other than that

keep going man

Nice texture work man, I'm not mad on the style but still it's looking good.

how do you hold the shot gun?

i can see bobo's work rubbed off a lot on you. I actually thought this was his piece until i saw the name. I would say that you are weilding the piece very nicely and you obviously aren't finished. I am looking forward to it when you are done though!

there is a slight ape shape in the head.. imho its a bit too wide..

thankx all for your com's

but some words i can understand ( hope my answers will be good )

Ingurum -- thanx -- imho ? sorry

Neil -- cool !!! but i have not his talent ! unfortunatly

YerEvilTwin -- the character will hold the gun like on the concept ( but it s not a shotgun ) ;)

Prs-Phil -- thank you for your critiques

but i'm not going to make a quake model, i was talking about quake just for the 3d model and not for the texture, i want to have my style :)

but you're right he seems he can fall ( just the perspective effect )

finish work and post some ortho and references when i'll back home this evening

Piotr Dobosz -- Apparently you love smileys :)

next post -- texture for body

i think what yereviltwin is refering to is that usually, the stock of a rifle curves back behind the trigger to provide a bit of handle shape. see how in the concept it comes out at a slightly different angle than coming straight out like you have it modeled? check out some rifle pictures online & i think you'll see what i mean. good work on everything else though for the most part. not sure i'm keen on the giant anime style eyes on such a big, mean brooding guy.

very more to come....

I think the base texture you have started is great. It needs to be dirty though. The metal parts are way too clean for a survivor character.

hey, it looks really good, i can't wait to se the texture maps of the uper body, i definitely could learn a thing of two from looking at it:), the shirt thingy teksture is great:thumbsup:

but yes, as jeffro said , it needs some dust and scratches.

jeffro & Mizu

thanks

don't worry it's just a wip i planed to add dirt and scratches :)
it's just the beginning ... i want to do something really cool...

thank you all for your support

Lookin pretty good. I agree that the texture needs a layer of dirt applied to get away from the smooth airbrushed look.

Not sure that I totally agree with the use of Bobo's work here. It almost looks like you've replicated the structure of his mesh vertice for vertice for most of it. I too look at other meshes to see how the best examples are structured, but I'll normally look at several meshes and copy neither of them. Rather just getting a general idea, then developing a personal style. Everyone's entitled to use their own methods, but the question would be whether you could build a model to that standard without using another mesh as a template.

Anyways, the model is coming along. Look forward to seeing it finished.

Nice work, i like the texturing, the only thing that throws me off a little is the size of his boots :-) they look a bit too wide and it seems like the texture is streched a little too much.. other than that, great work.

eyes too distractingly big, please reconsider that again.

Hey, I like the eyes, i think they give him personality. There's too many of these skulking survivor types around :) This guy is cute.

hi all !!

thank you for your support it helps me to work a lot

i think

toastie you're right :) with the eyes

Neil -- to be serious i have resized the eyes from the first pic but i think i can't resize the eyes
this time because this character has a very big head, and they could finally look very small... :)

landscape coming along well

The fold on his trousers look very unreal because there are so many of the same size and basically all running parralell.

Hey, cool model...you really captured his style extremely well. I do agree about the shoe being a little big. And IMHO, you don't have to do anything, but I think some bump mapping would really enhance this character big time...

And leave the eyes...they look really cool...imagine him looking pissed off...

But of course if you are going for quake style then it's cool...

Keep it up...
