Hi there,
I would like to know if its possible to have the the action axis based on a edge for example and the Action center based on a vertex ( I am trying to get the "stretch Point" plug behavior that we have in Modeler ) ? Since they are two separate tools it the expected behavior tks.
again...the key is freedom in space and perfect control on the CS.
See the gif below.

What is it you are trying to do with this "stretch point" idea?

Not sure if this is what you want, but you can use "screen" and put the axis anywhere.....even on that vertex shown in your gif??

Yes. Set your action center to element. Make your selection, then select your tool. The tool will work from the nearest vertex/edge/poly that you click on.

Hmm, that would work with single pair of points, can Modo simulate multiple pairs?
Here´s en example from LW(1.4Mb divx):

Hey Lux you should really take a look at the Pictrix plugs....there's some littles jewels here.

You can mix the different types of centre and axis tools. In this case you'll need to set both to Element from the menu at the top. Then issue the following command: "tool.set center.select on". Now you can select a vertex, activate the move tool and click on the edge you want to move the vertex along. The move tool's handle will be centred on the selected vertex and aligned along the edge you picked.

If this is something you do a lot then you could add a preset for it to your action menu.

Tks Mark. But what if I want to move more than 1 vrtx ( right now if select more than 1 vertex the action center snap to the middle of the selection which isnt what I want ). Is there a way to make it snap bak to the first selected vrtx for axample. Actually it would be really cool to define the action center with the left mouse click for example then define the axis ( based on another element ) with a left+shift click. What do you think?

No not at the moment, it always places the centre at the average of the selected elements.

Another solution would be to add an attribute to the center selected tool to allow you to choose "Average/First/Last" as the centre for the current selection. This has come up elsewhere as well so it seems like it'd be a useful thing to add.

This sounds like something similar to snapping problems, that are giving me alot of frustration at the moment.

Mark - can I ask please if you can clarify how this works a little more. My interpretation of edge snapping was that you can grab a vertex, set snapping to edge, then move that vertex along the edge. I find it's not that simple, but what you describe here sounds like the same thing. It's just I don't fully understand what you mean. Can we have a step by step 'how to' on what you describe here?

Thanks.

Julian.

The snapping works on edge and polygon centres. The method outlined here is more of a constraint.

This post gives steps for setting up the tool pipe for snapping:
