Hello to all:
I recently installed Mandrake Linux 8.2 on a back-up harddrive because I was getting tired of Windows 2000. I have been playing around with Linux a little bit, and I must say it is quite different from Windows, and rather fun, but also extremely frustraighting @[at] x's[times].

Last night I installed Maya 4.0.1 for Linux everything seemed to go pretty well, and install right. I open up a shell start maya and it runs, but the only problem is that I am getting no vies in my viewports.

The shell displays an error message:
"xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ".0.0"

I have no clue as to what this could possibly mean so I am hoping someone on this board can help me out.

Just for reference if this helps solve the problem
I am running dual p3z, gefc2 TI, and a gig of ram.

You need to install GLX and the dirvers and their dependencies for whatever graphics chip the laptop has. Good Luck, you'll need it:)

Hi capin_crunch,

Maya 4.0.1 is qualified on *Redhat* Linux 7.1/7.2.

Please see the following page for more information:

Hope this helps.

Maya run on Mandrake too.
You just have to install correctly the nvdia drivers for Linux.
Choose the good drivers and read carefully the notice, it should be good.
