mirroring an object

Select the object and in Scale set the x-value to -1.

yeah - i know how to mirror something - but i want to basically flip an object (such as si done when mirroring it) - but i don't want the original and the mirrored object - i just want the mirrored one.

any suggestions?
You can also just uncheck duplicate in the AM.
