I need to model a guitar for an intro to Maya Class. It will be a classical/accoustic guitar in a room with wooden furniture and a guitar case.

My questions are:

1. What is the best technique to build the guitar? Should I go for polygon, nurbs, or subD? or a combination?

2. Do you think that most of the work will be in the texture? What is the best approach to putting multiple textures on the same object (different textures for the front, side and back of the guitar)

3. Lighting and materials advice, if any.

4. Any advice you would give to a newbie. Any resources on the net that addresses a guitar model in Maya?

You help is much appreciated.

hey dude,
i would think nurbs at first but i'm not comfortable about the texturing bit.so may be you get your sweeps and stuff in nurbs then convert to sub'ds then texture.
also in the finished image and wip forums i've seen at least two guitars...ask those dudes...get the rift ;)
