View Full Version : Facial expression/animation rigging?

Does anyone have links or tips on how to go about creating expressions on an existing polymesh model? I'm mostly concerned with opening the mouth (including influening the lower set of teeth and tongue), phoneme (sp) creation, smiles, etc.

So far, I haven't had any experience doing weight-maps and very little with C4D bones, so tutorials that include that type of thing would be a plus ;).

Thanks,

- Keith

Howdy,

An excellent resource is Jason Osipa's book "Stop Staring". It's written with the Maya user in mind, but the lessons can easily be translated to Cinema 4D. He uses morph targets to animate the facial expressions, so you would need the Mocca module or an alternative Morph plugin.

Adios,

I second that. This is the best book on the market for this subject.

Here is also a thread about this with some work I am doing currently which I will be updating. It is being contributed by some very talented poeple like Dan and Oli so there should be some nice things to pick up there.

Thanks Dan and Jannis. Jannis, did you do your 4 morphs in C4D? I'd be interested in hearing how you went about that - it's exactly what I'm trying to learn (sliders? where/how do you end up with those?).

Thanks,

- Keith
