wow, i really like the lighting on this one :) pretty hard to tell it's 2D.

however the small ears and shape of the face remind me more of a cat than a dog.

i still like it nonetheless :)

I like the overall look and colors. Especially the jaw area with the cigarette has worked out very well.

Minor crits, it seems like he's not looking in the same direction with his eyes; the pupil of his left eye is higher than the right one. Also his ears are a bit too pointy. Maybe you could soften the strands of hair on his head.

however it misses some sort of finishing touch. the lighting is good, but the colors aren't my favourite choice.. sort of dead. The other thing that bothers me is his expression. What do you wanna say with that? I think it would've looked better if you let him look straight in the camera with hanging eyebrows and "lips" (cheeks) in a sort of sad way.

Well, there's a lot to like about this picture -- the dangling, crumpled cigarette, the facial expression (I imagine him with John Goodman's voice), and the gleam of his eyes.

I think the bristly hair is a bit unruly -- it doesn't follow any sort of pattern. I'd suggest one of three options:

Make him bristly haired all over like an Irish Wolfhound.

Make him smooth/short haired all over like a great dane

Make him anthromophic -- smooth forehead and ears, bristly spiked hair cut on top like Schwarznegger. I like the stubble along his jowls. It looks like he's got mutton chop sideburns. He'd look great in an Irish pub with a pint in one paw and a dart in the other. :thumbsup:

Also, I agree with DrakeX about his ears. Consider moving them up to the top corners of his head -- look at Great Danes for reference.
