View Full Version : Samjai - an upcoming model for quake3

This is Samjai for quake3, it was designed mainly by me and Dark_Horizon. The goal I had was to create something semi realistic to gain experience in both modelling and animating. It's probably going to run worse in game than Magdalena did with it's 2106 poly's, but it should be obvious this is for art's sake rather than a model to play with in game, even though it is fun if you have the system for it.

The skinning team is quite a bit larger than Magdalena's, 17 skinners working on it (although I doubt they'll all make it into the release, this 16th,) but it looks promising so far. This one seemed to have attracked some great skinning talent, here's what I've received so far, in (pretty much) finished state:

Default by Dark_Horizon (this one looks alot better in game due to the excellent and extensive use of shaders)

:eek: :eek: Dear lord them's some good skins, very inspiring !! They are all awsome but I have to say SOUL's f-ing rocks!!!!! ohh and yes the BROM homage rocks.. ;)

[edit} One thing , I don't think the outline around the characters is adding anything ..kinda detracts from the work in my opinion

[edit 2:] Where can I get the SDK for this I would love to try to skin this myself , if that would ok ??

Thanks for the comments guys. After seeing Bobo's thread I figured there was some more interest in game stuff, but I guess being on the front page of CG channel helps =P

Magic pen, I'll release the SDK together with the model on the polycount (www.polycount.com) forums, keep an eye on those in about a week, if you're still interested.

Hi there, good to see you here too, great stuff there as usual, but i thik i already told you that? When are you going to post some of your more recent stuff, and what is happening with that 4 legged character?
