The release day for the U.S. market in November has not been decided, but the camcorder will be on sale internationally by January 1 2005, he says.

Yeah it's cool but has no 24p or progressive scan. I'll wait to see what Panasonic or Cannon come up with to counter it.

this site claims that according to Sony USA reps, you may be able to do a form of pulldown removal if you shoot in cineframe 24 mode, and actually get truly progressive frames at 24fps. The difference is that when shooting, the frames aren't sampled at 24 fps but 30, and every five frames a full frame is dropped. So you may get a different look than the traditional 24fps.
