have to admit I am getting interested in this sort of style, looks fast, I take it you're working up from a base black silhouette then adding detail right? :curious:

spot on FlyingP - these are very quick to do, and a lot of fun. Perfect for quick concepts

This looks like something out of Star Wars, with a slightly darker context. I like the style. . Are you planning to model it? I ask because, after seeing your muscle study, I have no choice, but to respect your skill. So I'm sure it would be very good.
I must say I am not sure what to crit either.... They seem almost finished, what do you would like to change about them?
I mean, you could perhaps go into more tiny detail and keep painting every lil thing that one could see - but is that your goal?
If not - then you really achieved your goal - havent you?
cheers ;)
edit: thanks to goerge lucas, every man with a black coat, whos face you cannot see looks like star wars ;)
yea on that style note andrew, I must ask where you learned this style? it reminds me of a cleaner version of craig mullins work, and like some of the gnomon concept dvds (the little that I have seen).
anyways, great concept like always man, cant really find anything wrong with them. they look badass makes me think of starwars but like 20 times more evil then anything the dark side had.

I like the style a lot. I have actually tried this my self its not so simple as most people would like to believe. It requires good knowledge of lighting and a decent skill with translucent brushes. It is very fast tho... that I can tell you, like Andrewley said: perfect for quick concept. Yet I would add: perfect for some finished concept as well...
Exellent work   two thumbs up from me...
PS: awesome muscular study

Thanks for the comments guys. This style isn't really anything new. It is quite similar to oil painting where the basic shapes are laid down and detail is added.
First, it looks fantastic. Second, the character in the forefront looks kind of like Maximillion from The Black Hole, which was an awesome character - one of my favorites. I'm not saying your style isn't original; quite the opposite, but it does bring a warm and fuzzy memory to me. And third, that pile it just crapped out looks menacing too.;)
