How can I convert a speech line from a movie DVD to WAV format to use it for lipsync in my reel?

Don't think you can....have you tried places like:

http://www.dailywav.com

http://www.wavsource.com

There's alot of clips in there...you might find the line you want has already been made into a wav:)

Sure you can. With an external DVD player, just run the audio out from the DVD player into the line in on your sound card. Record in your favorite sound editing app.

Or if you have a DVD-ROM drive or similar beast, you might still be able to use your sound card. If you have the capability to select something like "What You Hear" or "WAV Out Mix" as a recording source, then select that source, play the DVD, and record in your favorite audio app.

Piece o' cake. :)

It's easy enough to get the sound from the dvd itself.
There's various free utilities (both audio and video rippers) that will do this just do a search.

Obviously I only do it for any sections I wish to animate.

Cheers
