View Full Version : First Animation
winfred_louder 09-29-2004, 10:10 PM Hey- this is my first real animation besides walk cycles. All criticism is welcome however I really can't change anything now because I used the demo version of CAT which doesn't allow you to save. Anway here it is: http://protonage.net/kyle/jump_1.mov

I would say it a good start ( 1st pass maybe ), there are many more things that you can work on..
1st of all, when he land.. feels like a iron attract to a magnet, in real world things don't really go from motion->stop like that. Try to animate the hips a bit more when he land.
2nd, layer the animation ( offset the keys ) of the spine when he lands which help to smooth out the action.. more flow
3rd, show more of anticipation b4 he jump....
basicly u are missing lots of the basic principle.. check out Keith Lango's web site (http://www.keithlango.com/)
also Spicy Cricket's website (http://www.spicycricket.com/SCA/hello.html)
both of them have GREAT resources/tutorial on animation. keep it up ;)

thanks a lot for the suggestions fallencat- hopefully I will be able to apply these suggestions to my next animation- i'm going to try and find a free character to download so I can actually save my animations next time. Thanks for the websites too- they have great information so far!
