I wonder if anyone can help?
I have to make a simple screen saver that will be played on a PC driving a Hitachi 42" plasma screen.
The questions are what res and pixel aspect ratio should I render at and what screen res should the PC be set too?

Thanks

Did you already try google? Because this page: http://www.has.hitachi.com.sg/display/plasma42.htm really wasn't that hard to find and has all the info you need.

Thanks for that link Arnage I hadn't found that page but I had found similar but I'm still confused as to the best res and pixel aspect ratio to use I don't understand most of the info on that page.

I need a simple render at A x B with pixel aspect C. If it's that straight forward my guess is it isn't.

From that same page...
Aspect ratio
16 : 9 Number of pixels
1024 (horizontal) x 1024 (vertical) pixels Pixel pitch
0.90 (horizontal) x 0.51 (vertical) mm

Do you have one to preview on? If so trial and error always works.

What's Pixel pitch?
I wouldn't render at 1024x1024 or would I? The poor PC who's power is unknown to me has to be able to play the animation I know mine couldn't cope at that res
Unfortunately I don't have anything to try it on.

So would I render at something like 500x500 at what ever pixel aspect or I notice it's saying VGA or SVGA so does that mean I can render at 640x480 plus that mysterious pixel aspect ratio?

So confused, thanks for those trying to sort my brain out.

I don't know what kind of pc you have but 1024x1024 really should be doable with the right codec, here a test screensaver i made to try it out: http://www.student.io.tudelft.nl/io1178512/teapots.scr

Just let it run about a minute and exit it, it will try to run as fast as possible and when exiting it, it will popup a dialog with the number of frames per second he was able to squeeze out of your computer. As long as that's above 30 fps or something you should have no problem running a movie at that resolution. i got 80 while my pc was rendering at the same time, so i guess that even an older computer should be able to play a 1024x1024 animation.
