Any tutorials or information that I can be pointed to so I can learn how to better create glass in maya? Thanks.

that tutorial assumes your rendering with mental ray. Theres also heaps of maya software shaders on highend3d.com with some convincing glass.
basics - give all objects you intend to be glass a depth - ie: dont make a glass profile with no depth. Raytrace it setting your reflections and refractions to more than mayas default settings to allow the rays to pass thru the surfaces and calculate whats behind that surface. Refraction settings in your shader - give it some :) Reflection limit - crunk it up, reflection maps - important, lighting - equally so. blah blah - theres heaps of toots man just do a search :)
