ORIGINAL THREAD:
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is a F1 car. It's not a replica of a specific model, as I'm taking bits from one and another. I've already planned how the car paint will be and what sponsors to have, but it's still a long way to get there.
I suppose there isn't much to critique from a car that is not finished, but if there is anything to change it's better to know now than when it's all done :)

So here it is, using 3d studio.

and btw, I started working on a driver model. I'll get some images up when there is something worth showing.

The front spoiler is flat and needs an inverted wing shape.

Thanks for the comments.
But considering I'm not english, what is the spoiler? maybe it's the nose of the car?

The spoiler would be the alerón.

I'ts looking quite nice, maybe you should work on the air vents.

Thanks for making that clear, I always refered to them as wings :)
Anyway, here is a little update. Haven't done much but I edited the front spoilers as suggested and started modeling the back of the car, which is prooving to be a tough job considering it's hard to get good reference from it with all pictures being covered by the wheels and the wings of the back. Oh, and also, got the wheel modeled.

Ouch! a month without updating. If I have to be honest I haven't done much progress, but the cockpit is now done, steering wheel included. Also modeled the small side wings and other small details. Let me know what you think! :)

On a side note, last week I passed the car driving test so I now have license :D

Not an update but kind of a test. I know the modeling is not finished, but I wanted to do some car paint tests. Here is the result, took 15 minutes to render at 800x600

yes, good car ; look like a little (a big little :)) to a ferrari ;)

make the suspension clutch like a reel !!, because here it's much difficult to do and the meshsmooth make the susp. little weird :)

the carpaint look good too, good job for now, keep up ;)

Thanks for that comments. I suppose if it looks like a ferrari I sould be proud :D
But Tyio, I don't get what you mean by making the suspension like a reel.
Here are two new images, belts, cockpit front glass(not visible on the images though), the ventilation holes, and that thing next to it that most cars have and I don't know what it's for

I need to chamfer some edges, add some minor details and then, I'm checking to see if I'm missing something before I merge the two halfs of the car.

ok man ;)

i mean the suspension have to be separate of the car, not blend with the main frame ;)

Heres another update. The car modeling is finally done :bounce: (ok, ok, it's missing the antennas and sticks that are on the front, but thats just a lil' detail I'll add later :) )
I didn't render the wheels cause they take a while to render...

http://anon.free.anonymizer.com/http://razh.50megs.com/wip/f1/car_17.jpg

Now comes the material creating. Gotta do some tests with composite materials, I've never used them before.

Oh, and about the suspensions, I got the idea from renault's car. Not sure if its the same, but the seam is just after the car has merged with the suspension. I'll probably be more clear when matterials are applied to it :)

Here is a new render with some of the materials. I'm still working on the tires texture. Also, note that the reflections look a bit weird because of the white background. But, overall, you can get the idea of how it'll look in the end.

Yet another render, this time with the stickers.
Reflection did some weird stuff, as if it reflected the wireframe in the front of the car
