Thanks Elmasfeo! Getting better with you Wacom already! I really need to get practice on direct sketching on my Wacom. But so far, no time...

Brötje - very funny, both posts! Its funny that both of yours have to do with food. The best food I had anywhere in Europe was in Belgium!

El Mas Feo - good one - you are getting lots better with the Wacom!

Brötje

Yeah, We're famous for our beer and chocolate. And Belgian food IS the greatest.

Aw, great! Now I'm hungry!

CHEERS and thanks for the nice replies! :)

Painter - Wacom - 1.5 hours

Updated: added an indication of a background and tried to get rid of the greenish yellow (no idea if it worked - stupid eyes!)

Here's the wpe (http://www.bolman.nl/cgtalk/0115.zip) for those interested.

Andrewley: Nice pic man. The greenish yellow is a bit out of place imo, but I like the whole pic.
Brötje: Great style!
Elmasfeo: Keep practising, try more hard brushes to get rid of the blurry look.

Good interpretation SuperV!

Is the yellow greenish on mine? I'm slightly colour blind (thats why I'm not too ambitious with my colours). Anyway thanks for the crit dude! edit: I've updated the pic

Brötje - Nice style!

elmasfeo - nice composition

Call of the wild/wind.
I din't time myself but it wasn't long--a quick doodle.
Would have been even less time if I didn't do it with a mouse!

Andrewley: great image as usual! Sorry to hear about your eyes. That must suck being an artist with such a problem. Really good images none the less. :)

supervlieg, you made me laugh, hehehe... and thanks for the advise, I will try it... what do I have to use to see a wpe file? what is it? I've seen that some people have a link to their wpe files
Brötje, I've just realized that you are really quick! 10 min and 15 min! WOW! I envy you

...oh, and robinayles, you can continue writing elmasfeo without blanks, thats how the nick is, in fact...I really dont mind where did it came from

doobywho
09-28-2004, 09:53 PM
in order to open a .wpe file you need to have opencanvas. It is basically a recording of their drawing. It's a good way to see how someone achieved a certain effect.

elmasfeo - I think every time I write your name I will do it differently...how about this:

EL MAS FEO, MUCHO MAS FEO, TODO MAS FEO, EL MAS FEO EN TODO EL MUNDO <hee hee>

Supervlieg: He looks like a prof of mine o_0 I'm starting to recognise your style out of thousands :scream:
Kvaalen: pretty cool for a mouse-piece
Cyanid: great mood/colors. Simple piece but you have my vote so far :)

you know that this is a 2D board, right roozelle? http://cgtalk.com/images/smilies/wink.gifSorry.

I read that it could be done in any medium - so, I thought 3D would be okay.

I'll give it the ax.

Hey elmasfeo didn't mean to steal your composition must have been a subliminal pickup as I scrolled thru the posts before starting mine...if you think it's too close, i'll take it off.

10 minutes of sketching (pencil), and bout 1,5 hour playing with the mouse and shadows (in the end none of the versions satisfied me, so i left out shadows....)

Elmasfeo : It's not that quick if you think about it. I sketch my drawing on paper first, then scan and paint.

ET VOILA! :)

To everybody on this thread : GREAT JOB! You continue to surprise me with the comical and artistical genius. YOU ALL ROCK! :buttrock:

I suck in drawing directly with my Wacom. I could never pull that off in under 15 minutes.

Good afternoon Forumites!
Some cracking pix as usual...

Here's mine...
Lunch hour. Photoshop. Google.

The call of the Wilde

Spent too long on the Oscar part, so I couldn't be bothered to draw the car too...

Hope it still counts!!

Cheers!!!

WOW! This forum just gets better every day! So many great entries again.

TheTon - really great idea, I like the play on "Wilde"
DrawMonger - I like your sketch even if it is like Elmasfeo's
ilikesoup - Maybe your name should now be ilikebeer?
Novacaine - 2 really good entries!
Roozelle - fantastic new twist on the "hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil" thing!
Andrewley - masterful as always
Supervleig - Another good one for you, too
Cyanid - really love the mood and loneliness of this one!

Great job everyone!!

ilikesoup - Maybe your name should now be ilikebeer?

Actually, Bear would consider being called ilikebeer, but most bars won't serve beers to bears.:D

The Ton-- great idea and terriffic execution. Only problem is that Oscar Wilde was gay. . .not that there's anything wrong with that. :scream: (<--Jerry Seinfeld Smiley)
Perhaps he's stealing Hugh Heffner's Audi and phone, and throwing all the Playboys out the window? Anyway, I'm enjoying your sense of humor.

Sorry, gang. Can't give individual kudos from work. Will try tonight, but nice work!

robinayles
09-29-2004, 08:54 PM
Wilde may have been gay, but he did have a reputation as a "playboy" - maybe that was what TheTon meant by the playboy magazines?

my first time joining this thread.. i hope it's clear enough for you to see what's going on.. made in painter 8 with wacom for 45 mins.. still have to learn a lot about lighting..

Don't worry Ilikesoup and Robin, I did know that "Butch" Oscar was gay, but I was remembering an old sketch from Blackadder goes forth (dunno if you would have seen it over your way)...

Anyway, he is describing the Greatest mind in English Legal history, Bob Massingbird, who is going to get him out of being shot by the firing squad for shooting the Generals pet pigeon...

"Look what he did to Oscar Wilde - Big, bearded, bonking, butch Oscar, the terror of the ladies. A hundred and fourteen illegitimate children, world heavyweight boxing champion and author of the bestselling pamphlet 'Why I Like To Do It With Girls' - and Massingbird had him sent down for being a whoopsie..."

Tremendous...

So I now hope you can see why he's got all the Playboy mags...

TheTon

The Ton-- Of course! It should have been so obvious to me. ;)

Haven't seen that episode, but I'm now craving a Black Adder box set or something. Rowan Atkinson is just brilliant. Which epoch was that from, BTW? I think I've only seen him in Elizabethan England. I understand there's a series from WWII and the Middle Ages as well, don't know if you have a favorite.

robinayles
10-01-2004, 01:50 PM
The Ton - very funny! We did get BlackAdder here Stateside, but I never saw this episode. In fact it was on so late at night, I rarely caught it at all. Funny to imagine Oscar that way. So yes, in that context the Playboys are perfect! Love it!

[edit:] Rowan Atkinson ROCKS! One of the funniest people alive...even when he doesn't say anything!
